Intensive Hospitality English Language ProgramOur Intensive Hospitality English Language Program (IHELP) focuses on intensive English learning while also teaching students important hospitality industry terminology and knowledge.
We offer this program to students who need help to fulfil the entry requirements of the Bachelor’s or MSc programs at Glion Institute of Higher Education. Our experienced teachers tailor the course to individual student needs to improve their English grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, pronunciation, reading and writing. At the start and upon completion of the program at the Glion campus in Switzerland, students will take an Academic English test.

Program Learning OutcomesOn successful completion of the IHELP program, students should be able to:
∙ Master English at a sufficient level and in accordance with the relevant admissions requirements to be able to study on the BBA or MSc program successfully.
∙ Communicate appropriately, using both written and spoken English in Hospitality and Academic contexts to a professional standard.
∙ Apply a range of study skills, strategies and techniques to enable them to perform to the reach their full academic and professional potential.
How it WorksAll candidates
Intakes: two per year
Duration: 6 weeks
Hours per week: on average, 22 classroom hours plus 15-20 hours of independent learning
Bachelor canidates
Students must achieve an IELTS score of 5.5 to enroll in a Bachelor program at Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland or London, UK.
6-week course for Bachelor candidates: designed for students who have a minimum overall IELTS score of 5.0 and min. 4.5 in every sub-component on application.
Bachelor applicants in the 6 week IHELP must achieve a minimum BULATS score of 60/100 equivalent to a high B2 level on the Common European Framework of Reference to progress onto the Bachelor program. This test takes place on site at the beginning and end of the 6 week IHELP.
MSc candidates
Students must achieve an IELTS score of 6.0 to enroll in a MSc program at Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland.
6-week course for MSc candidates: designed for students who have a minimum overall IELTS score of 5.5 and min. 5 in every sub-component on application.
MSc applicants in the 6 week IHELP must achieve a minimum BULATS score of 75/100, equivalent to a high B2 /C1 level on the Common European Framework of Reference, in order to progress onto the MSc program. This test takes place on site at the beginning and end of the 6 week IHELP.

Students can undertake the IHELP in Switzerland and then continue their studies at Glion, or they can elect to transfer to London. If a student completes IHELP in Switzerland and achieves the English level required to study in the United Kingdom they can transfer in Semester 3 for the Bachelor’s program.

APPLICATION AND FEES 2018
Admission RequirementsBachelor
∙ Must be 17 years and 3 months old or above.
∙ English level: IELTS overall 5.0 and min. 4.5 in every sub-component on application.
MSc
∙ Must be 21 years old or above.
∙ English level: IELTS overall 5.5 and min. 5.0 in every sub-component on application.
All
∙ Equivalent English certificates such as Cambridge and TOEFL are accepted on application and all English certificates must have been issued in the last 12 months prior to admission.
∙ Must hold a valid passport. Nationals of any country can apply and follow the required process for obtaining a visa.
How to Apply1. Complete the CH or UK application
form and select the IHELP program required.
2. Provide a copy of your IELTS English language level certificate or equivalent.
3. Arrange payment of the program fees.

Fees Do Not Include: ∙ Pocket money, laundry costs, visa fees, airport transfers in home
country and flights.
∙ Exam fees for the Academic English test (Bulats) at the beginning and end of the 6 week IHELP.
∙ If transferring to the United Kingdom, all students, regardless of nationality, are entitled to Accident and Emergency care free of charge. However, for all other health related matters health insurance is required. For further information please see the Fee Schedule.
∙ Please note: in the case of a cancellation, we will refund the total amount of the program if the cancellation is made 14 days or more prior to the start of the program in writing to the Admissions Department. 50% of the full amount will be refunded if cancellation occurs up to 14 days before the start of the program. No refund will apply if the student does not attend or start on the first day of the course without cancelling beforehand.
