[ 10/17/12 11:21 AM] Deanna - Intel:@Galen - send me your contact info and I will get you to the
correct recruiter.
[ 10/17/12 11:21 AM] Carl - Intel:
@Dan Simpson: Sorry for the confusion. We do have positions
in IT focused on infrastructure and in some of our product and
research groups focusing on big data. I suggest you check out
specific positions on Intel.com/jobs. We post new jobs all the
time so check back often.
[ 10/17/12 11:22 AM] Toni - Intel:
@Majid Response times to applications can vary. Some
managers quickly review candidates and pick up the phone and
call for a phone screen. Others can take more time to review
their applicants. The best thing you can do is apply to all jobs
that you feel interested in and at least 80% qualified for! We
have many recruiters that review resumes and this is a good
way to be seen by all.

[ 10/17/12 11:23 AM] Majid.Ehtesham: @Toni - thanks again for the information. I will do it
[ 10/17/12 11:23 AM] Dan.Simpson:@Intel, so each group is kind of like it's own entity, and posts
internship positions.
[ 10/17/12 11:23 AM] Dan.Simpson: @Intel, does each group have their own IT department?
[ 10/17/12 11:24 AM] FELIPE.SAYAGO:what else can I do to get an internship opportunity to work on
Intel's environmental challenges?
[ 10/17/12 11:25 AM] Carl - Intel:
@Dan Simpson: IT is a centralized function but supports all
groups at Intel. BUT some of our product groups and research
teams also focus on big data. It depends on your skills and
interests so you do have to do some legwork to find the best
match for you.
[ 10/17/12 11:25 AM] Deanna - Intel:@ Felipe - We currently have active job openings posted here:

@Naresh: We do hire folks with modeling experience, but we
do place an emphasis on Hands on work over modeling. I do
suggest you look at oru packaging group in Arizona as they do
hire more modeling folks than other groups
[ 10/17/12 11:43 AM] Toni - Intel: Hello

@Ashutosh - We currently have active job openings posted

experienced.
[ 10/17/12 11:47 AM] David.O'Donnell:
But I think that is expected value considering that these
recruiters have to keep track of 75 people firing off questions
and they are only able to do so much
[ 10/17/12 11:48 AM] Deanna - Intel:
@Tyler - We have a Sales & Marketing Rotation Program
(SMRP) where we like to find technical undergrads with an
MBA.
[ 10/17/12 11:48 AM] Toni - Intel: @ David - what specifically can I answer for you
[ 10/17/12 11:48 AM] Carl - Intel:
@David: A reasonable response. Here's the deal. We do get A
LOT of online traffic., BUT the people that get the most looks
are the people that actually apply for positions. Those pop to
the top of the recruiters screen when the set out to fill a
position. If all you do is create a profile, the chances you are
going to get looked at are small unless you have a REALLY
unique skill set.
[ 10/17/12 11:48 AM] Tyler.Lastovich:Ok, any suggestions of what intern postions would set me up

The truth of the matter is that we have a myriad of different
positions at Intel that cover a broad spectrum of business
groups. That is why it is always best to keep checking our jobs
boards regularly and make sure you keep your profile up to
date.
[ 10/17/12 11:58 AM] Carl - Intel:
@Deval: HVAC positions are actually one of our more difficult

is everything, but please do think of intel as a place for HVAC

[ 10/17/12 12:07 PM] Deanna - Intel:
@Ariel - After you apply we will determine relative fit to a
specific job opening. The manager's will screen your resumes,
if there is a good fit, they will give you a phone screen and then
possibly an additional phone interview with a hiring team
member. Some groups get through this process in a few weeks
and others are more slow based upon their travel schedules,
availability to schedule phone screens, etc.
[ 10/17/12 12:08 PM] Toni - Intel:@ katherine - great. let me tell you alittle bit about the
process...
[ 10/17/12 12:08 PM] Carl - Intel:
@Hoang: I think you are asking about UnPaid internships? Intel
does not offer Unpaid internships. If you are an Intern, you get
paid and paid well! We ask you to do real work on real projects,
because if you are successful, there is a very good chance we
will offer you a full time position upon graduation.
[ 10/17/12 12:08 PM] Hoang.Nguyen:
I know that as a masters student, I am very busy, but I want to
volunteer my time to work at Intel with no pay. Is there a
program or anything similar to this? I wanted to further my
hands-on with Intel
[ 10/17/12 12:08 PM] Toni - Intel:
@ Katherine - Response times to applications can vary. Some
managers quickly review candidates and pick up the phone and
call for a phone screen. Others can take more time to review
their applicants. The best thing you can do is apply to all jobs
that you feel interested in and at least 80% qualified for! We
have many recruiters that review resumes and this is a good
way to be seen by all.
[ 10/17/12 12:09 PM] Katherine.Ayala:awesome. well I will definitely keep on checking your job board

My experience mainly revolves around academic, so I don't
have a whole lot of valuable engineering work experience,
because of this, my resume is often not considered for a
position
[ 10/17/12 12:13 PM] Carl - Intel:
Hoang: Great question! It can be hard to stand out at a career
fair, but it is EASY to stand out in a BAD way. Dress nicely,
shower, wipe off the sweaty palms, eat a breath mint! It may
sound silly, but MANY folks don't do these simpel things.
[ 10/17/12 12:15 PM] Carl - Intel:
@Hoang: Read up on the company, know the positions you are
best suited for and let the recruiters know. ALSO, on your
resume, make sure to include experiences working on teams

experience too

@Carl haha! Yes I dress to impress and do the best when
approaching a recruiter. Even after learning about the company
on their website, I think it's still not good enough. They say they
want entry level engineers, but when someone applied and

candidate. To me, that is contradicting "entry level"

@Hoang: Yup that does happen. We work hard to "Calibrate"
our managers on what to expect from an Inten or Recent grad,
but sometimes they don't listen to me. Hard to belive Huh? That
is why the more interaction you can have, the better. You only
need to meet that one person you have a connection with. You
are lucky that we go to yoru school so you can meet people
Face to Face. You can ask them why they engage or why they
don't. It might help you understand what else you need to do.
[ 10/17/12 12:19 PM] Hoang.Nguyen:

@Pritesh - I think I answered this earlier but not everyone that

determine that top talent that applies and forward a short list of
candidates. Managers do not see everyone that applies to their
req. The best advice I would give to you is to customize your

I know resume is a step to get your foot to the interview, and
after that, it's all about the ability to impress your recruiter with

candidate should do when applying to that specific position and

experience when Intel asks for work experience?

ability to communicate verbally and in writing, .ppt is your
friend!, and the ability/wilingness to step up and intentify/own a
problem
[ 10/17/12 12:31 PM] Hoang.Nguyen:
@Carl, Thanks! I'm asking you these questions while taking
notes so that I know what I should do when I meet the recruiter
face to face
[ 10/17/12 12:31 PM] Carl - Intel:@Hoang: Taking notes! Wow! Someone is actually listening to
what I say! ;-)
[ 10/17/12 12:32 PM] Deanna - Intel:Hey - did everyone see the shout out for "Intel" from the
POTUS last night?
[ 10/17/12 12:32 PM] Toni - Intel: @ Carl - not true we always listen to you ;-)
[ 10/17/12 12:33 PM] Deanna - Intel: OK - everyone is too quiet. ;00
[ 10/17/12 12:33 PM] Mamatha.Dakshinamurthy:
Hi. For few positons even they are entry level , it asks for
experience is certain fields. Does that mean only people with
few years of expereince in specific field get interview calls?
[ 10/17/12 12:34 PM] Hoang.Nguyen:@carl: I dont see why people shouldn't listen to what you say.
Every sentence is relevant and every word counts
[ 10/17/12 12:35 PM] Toni - Intel: @Mamatha - it is prefered but not a min. requirement
[ 10/17/12 12:35 PM] Carl - Intel: @Hoang: That last one is dangerously close to sucking up! ;-)
[ 10/17/12 12:36 PM] Carl - Intel: So folks: Where are you all from? School? Part of the country?
[ 10/17/12 12:36 PM] Deanna - Intel:, the chat transcripts will be posted after this event wraps up, so
don’t worry if you miss something!
[ 10/17/12 12:36 PM] Hoang.Nguyen:

humor is a necessity!

[ 10/17/12 12:39 PM] Galen.Johnson:@Carl, I can attest to that! During my Intel internship last
semester I had a ton of fun
[ 10/17/12 12:39 PM] Conrad.Cole:Does Intel do any work involving renewable/sustainable
energy?
[ 10/17/12 12:40 PM] Hoang.Nguyen:@Carl: OH NO!!! Asking the wrong guy the entire time!!!! I'm
just kidding because you didn't know I was a BEAV
[ 10/17/12 12:40 PM] Conrad.Cole:I will be specializing in Solar Energy while pursuing my master's

@Galen - you are showing two profiles in Intel.com/jobs. Make
sure you have all of your information current and keep the
external one (i.e. external email address).
[ 10/17/12 12:40 PM] Carl - Intel: Go Oregon
[ 10/17/12 12:41 PM] Conrad.Cole:and would like to get some real world/research experience in
Solar Energy
[ 10/17/12 12:41 PM] Hoang.Nguyen: LOL
[ 10/17/12 12:41 PM] Hoang.Nguyen: Oregon is good! I think DUCKS + BEAVS = Oregon KNOWN
[ 10/17/12 12:42 PM] Galen.Johnson:
@Deanna yes I just went in and cleared as much information
from the non-university account as possible. I'm surprised that
there's no "delete profile" option!
[ 10/17/12 12:42 PM] Deanna - Intel: @Galen - OK, cool.
[ 10/17/12 12:43 PM] Toni - Intel: @ Mamatha - what do you mean by being rejected?
[ 10/17/12 12:43 PM] Hoang.Nguyen:
sorry I'm getting a little off topic because there are only 10
participants left in here and 3 of them are Intel staffs, so not
many people are actively asking questions
[ 10/17/12 12:43 PM] Carl - Intel:All: WE ahve 17 minutes left in the chat. If you have any
quesions, you better spit them out!
[ 10/17/12 12:44 PM] Hoang.Nguyen:
when applying to a specific position and company, but does
academic experience actually count as relevant experience
when Intel asks for work experience?
[ 10/17/12 12:44 PM] Deanna - Intel:
Just an FYI - we try to do most of our most of our 2013 hiring
(i.e. interns/college grads) in the fall of 2012. This is the perfect
time to apply and get noticed!
[ 10/17/12 12:44 PM] Hoang.Nguyen:And does Academic Experience only have to be lab
experience? Could it be course work experience?

bit?
[ 10/17/12 12:45 PM] Hoang.Nguyen:how many positions are you hiring for the interns/college grads
in 2013?
[ 10/17/12 12:45 PM] Galen.Johnson:
@Deanna I just want to confirm that you've successfully
received my contact info and can forward it to the appropriate
departments. Sorry to keep being such a pain!
[ 10/17/12 12:46 PM] Deanna - Intel:
@Balaram - actually we don't have a forum specific for IT. ! If
you are looking for a full-time position after graduating, apply
to:
http://www.intel.com/jobs/jobsearch/index_rcg2.htm?job=62948
6&src=UNV-11521 If you are looking for an internship, apply to:
http://www.intel.com/jobs/jobsearch/index_rcg2.htm?job=62949
0&src=UNV-11521
[ 10/17/12 12:46 PM] Deanna - Intel:
@Balaram - There are very few openings in IT as we try to fill
these openings through our internship conversions. We
currently have active job openings posted here:
http://www.intel.com/jobs/usa/students/
[ 10/17/12 12:47 PM] Deanna - Intel:
@Balaram - Not everything is posted yet though, as we are still
working through our hiring plans for 2013. Keep an eye out
over the next weeks and months as we get more jobs posted
and begin the interview process!
[ 10/17/12 12:47 PM] Carl - Intel:
@Hoang: Many of our positions will be filled by Intern
conversions, but we will still hire a lot of folks without Intel
internship experience as well.
[ 10/17/12 12:48 PM] Hoang.Nguyen:
When I look at the Skills requirement at Intel, the experience I
dont have, I tried to acquire that by taking courses relevant to
that skill requirement. It may or may not be the right thing to do,
but I don't know if that is considered something that the hiring
manager would look for in a resume

I'd also like to throw my hat into the running for either a full-time
or internship position for the Arizona facilities. I discussed this
possibility during my internship interview last summer, but I
have not heard anything back yet.
[ 10/17/12 12:51 PM] Carl - Intel:@Hoang: Try to translate your classroom experiencies/lab
projects into examples you can share
[ 10/17/12 12:51 PM] Hoang.Nguyen:How is the interview process and what steps should a
candidate take to prepare for this process?
[ 10/17/12 12:51 PM] Carl - Intel:
Thanks again for being here today and actively participating in
the event! Just a reminder that this event will end in 10 minutes

up against the limits of physical laws. I suspect they consider
that pretty challanging
