School Starting TimesPlease note that classes start promptly at 9.00am. If your children are late, they miss vital instructions in the classroom, not to mention announcements and instructions at the morning assembly, and this puts them at a disadvantage as well as causing them unnecessary anxiety. It is extremely important that all students are at school on time every day.

Knowla Bull SaleThanks to everyone who cooked or contributed in some way to the P&C fundraiser at the Knowla Bull Sale last Saturday. This activity is a major fundraiser on the school community’s calendar and was once again a big success. A special thanks must go to Mrs Melinda Higgins for her tireless attention to all of the necessary details.

Bucketts of TalentThis year’s combined Bucketts Way Community of Schools annual activity is the Bucketts of Talent concert which will be held on Wednesday, 17 September. Rehearsals are well underway and our students will be taking part in the massed choir as well as an individual school item. This has been on a purely voluntary basis and the students involved have already been given a note to ensure that they will be able to attend the evening performance. There will be two performances - a matinee for all of the students from each school and another in the evening for parents and community members. Another note will come home with the day’s details and tickets for the evening will be on sale soon.

The information in this booklet is so very relevant and valuable that we have reproduced it for all of our parents. Please take the time to have a careful look through this resource.

Bathurst ExcursionThe itinerary and final details for this activity have been sent home in a separate note. Please sign and return the DVD permission note and return it to the school by this Friday, 29 August.

Sesquicentenary CelebrationsAs you would be aware, BPS is celebrating its 150th birthday this year. We will be acknowledging this huge achievement on Saturday, 11 October and we are asking all of the students and their families to come on this day. We will be starting with a street march from the Barrington Hall to the school, followed by an opening ceremony, some performances by past and present students, and the unveiling of the new school song which has been written for us by Bec Willis. There will be numerous market stalls, food and drink and even a jumping castle, not to mention a memorabilia display. This day is the first Saturday of Term 4. More information will come home closer to the event.

Regional AthleticsGood luck to Ruby Cliffe who will be competing in this carnival on Friday. Watch this space for a full report.

Small Schools SoccerLast Thursday Barrington soccer team played Hinton in the quarter finals of the PSSA Small Schools soccer. Barrington exploded into the game early in the first half and kept pressure on the Hinton team. An early penalty gave Owen the free kick which he executed with precision over the top of the defence and into the goal mouth 1-0. Barrington forwards kept up the pressure and Owen quickly scored his second goal. Lane was next to score off his left foot: 3-0. Just before half time Hinton got in a goal despite many saves by goalie Ben and his backs. The second half saw Barrington extremely tired and they had to fight every inch to keep Hinton from scoring more goals. Rohan, Lane and Owen combined like a well-oiled machine in the forwards. Jarrod supported these three along the wing. Bradley, Will and Callum did everything that their coach Mr Hughes asked of them and cleared the ball many times. Makayla, Lydia and Keira have really shown so much improvement in their skills and Makayla even performed a great header. Thomas and James were always our last line of defence and were enormous help to Ben who saved many attempts by the Hinton strikers. Late in the game Owen got a burst of energy and using his great ball skills raced to his half dodging and weaving. He lined up the goal and shot scoring his 3rd and sealing the game 4-1. A huge thank you to Mr Hughes for his time, enthusiasm, positivity and energy. Barrington soccer team is off to Sydney to play the finals for the second year in a row. Well done team!!!!!Mrs Faull
