AMICA aims at combining measures to
promote adaptation to climate change with preventive strategies to maintain and protect the global climate.
Climate ImpactsOverheating of urban areas
Flooding of coastal areas
Drought/Flooding in rural areas
Flooding of urban areas
Mitigation • Evaluation of climate protection policies;
• “Peer reviews”: Analysis and recommendations of further measures.
Integration of Mitigation and Adaptation
Three main working areas:
• Construction
• Energy
• Spatial Planning
AMICA Vision• Adaptation and Mitigation are integrated in
regional and local policies;
• National governments recognise the contribution of the local level and provide support.
Conclusions• Mitigation and Adaptation should be
addressed simultaneously - Synergy effects help both;
• There are several synergy measures on the local level;
• Adaptation measures are important, however they depend on parallel mitigation measures.
