Integrating Technology Select a prior MATLT activity that demonstrates attainment of Program Learning Outcome 8 which is to demonstrate the ability to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of learning and leadership. Redesign the activity using instructional design principles and theory. Be sure to include an explanation of which principles and theory you chose and why. Additionally, include a discussion of any design and implementation challenges experienced during the redesign process. Redesign Principles and TheoryThe principles and theory that were referenced to complete the redesign project were found in Goals of Instruction. An Objectivism approach is that instruction is to elicit the desired response from the learner who is presented with a target stimulus (Dabbagh, 2006). A Cognitivism approach is to communicate or transfer knowledge in the most efficient, effective manner (Dabbagh, 2006). Finally, a Constructivism approach is that the focus is on the process not the product (Dabbagh, 2006). The attainment of Program Learning Outcome 8 and the above mentioned principles and theory pertain to the instructor selecting the appropriate technology to promote effective and appropriate learning. The instructor should not focus entirely on the end result, but should rather make every attempt to aid the learner in achieving maximum learning. RedesignThe original assignment was a written paper on the subject of integrating technology into lesson plans. There were three lesson plans that needed technology integrated into them. A non-linear Power Point was integrated into the first lesson. An online timeline was integrated into the second lesson and a webcast was integrated into the third lesson. The redesign integrated a Power Point containing YouTube videos as a resource for the learners. The YouTube videos on the Power Point house instructions on how to use the integrated technology. The learners can reference the Power Point and videos at any time to help them learn how to use the technology and create top-quality designs. Redesign ChallengesI can honestly state that I did not experience too many challenges with this redesign. I had three activities in mind that I thought would work well for this redesign and making the final selection was not too hard. I selected the prior activity of integrating technology because I thought I could do more with this activity than I could the others. I debated over the redesign briefly. I made my final decision because when I was learning to utilize new technology, I would have appreciated a resource such as the one I created. I believe that when a learner is attempting to attain new knowledge, he/she can use all the resources possible. ConclusionA prior MATLT activity was selected and redesigned demonstrating the attainment of Program Learning Outcome 8. Instructional design principles and theory were selected and utilized. A discussion regarding the selected instructional design principles and theory was included as well as a discussion regarding the challenges that were experienced during the redesign.
