Custom audiencesCustom audiences on Facebook are the perfect way to keep your email marketing strategy and social media strategy integrated and aligned.

● Upload your email database to Facebook - target ads to this list.

● Target lead generation ads on Facebook to your desired audience. Gain their email addresses for future email marketing.

The go-between Facebook and MailChimp is fantastic. Integrated marketing campaigns will never be the same again!

Custom audiences

If you’ve already got an email list with good engagement, it’s worth targeting them on Facebook.

Simply upload your list to a custom audience. If the email address used on MailChimp is the same email address the user logs in on Facebook, you can target ads to them.

NB: Expect a smaller list size when uploading to Facebook as not all email addresses will match up.

Custom audiencesFacebook have just introduced new lead generation ads.

Get users to subscribe to you with one simple CTA button. Facebook will submit the user’s name and email address - perfect for your new MailChimp list.

This means that your new list on MailChimp will be made up of new data, and people who have recently interacted with your brand and are interested in your product. This will result in better engagement rates!

It’s essential to send an email to this database as soon as possible.

(Automated emails will be great for this… but that’s another story).

CampaignsWith all these new lists, you need to start your integrated marketing campaign.

1) Lead generation ads. Promote your new product with a CTA to sign up. You’ll gain a new list to promote your product to on email.

It also works the other way around.

2) Send an email to your engaged customer list/potential buyers list. Once sent, segment your list to those who have or haven’t opened the email.

If they have opened the email, set up a new custom audience on Facebook and target more ads to them - keep the product fresh and relevant in their minds.

If they haven’t opened the email, set up a new custom audience on Facebook and introduce them to the product on their favourite social media platform.

TargetingYour custom audiences are bigger and better than you think.

Create lookalike audiences on Facebook. This is a list that Facebook targets to based on your own custom audience.

You can also target interests related to your audience and the product you’re promoting. This makes your audience broader and can expand your reach.

RemarketingFacebook has its own tracking pixel so you can create remarketing ads on the platform.

For example, you can add a tracking pixel from Facebook to the website of an estate agent.

Facebook will start tracking those who have visited the estate agent’s website.

You can then set up remarketing ads to these people. If they’ve viewed a beautiful house in Woodingdean on the website, the beautiful house will then follow them around Facebook with an ad you have created.

MailChimp also works with tracking. It can track users who open an email, and click the link to the beautiful house in Woodingdean. You can then set up an automated email to go out to these people who have viewed the house. Remind them of the house and keep it fresh in their memory! They might even buy said house.
