Demand Driver: US Regulation

EPA has mandated industrial air quality standards by requiring MACT (Maximum Achievable Control Technology) for general air pollution as well as for NOx, SO2 and mercury reduction.

OSHA has established TLV (Threshold Limit Values) for more than 1,000 industrial contaminants.

DOE promotes new technology growth in biomass and gasification through its Financial Institution Partnership Program.

States continually promulgate new Renewable Energy Standards (RES) such as 12 to 15% technologies for electric companies.

Enforcement of these standards is expected to increase.
