On Sunday, 1st March 2015, twenty five global INTECSEA & WorleyParsons employees gathered at the Traders Hotel in Kuala Lumpur in preparation for our annual Global Technology internal workshop. They met for dinner at the hotel’s restaurant where introductions were made, friendships quickly forged and jetlag conveniently ignored. A full agenda was commenced at the KLCC (Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre) at 8am on Monday 2nd March. Topics included subsea processing, probabilistic design and assessment methods, a novel new low motion FPSO, lifecycle data management and advanced ECA methods. The days were intense and included a number of breakout sessions which drilled down on key innovations but the main function of the week was to harness the collective Global Technology Workshop 2015 technology knowlege and innovations within our global company. One of the highlights of the week was further sharing that knowledge with our Customers. This happened on Thursday, 5th March. Over 60+ Customers had registered and we welcomed all that came (Petronas, UTP, MPRC, Subsea7, OneSubsea, HESS, KPOC) to the KLCC to join us for an ice breaker lunch and then into the more formal agenda of the afternoon. At 1.30pm we started off with a warm welcome from Steve Lee (our SVP for Asia and the Middle East) and then into our first presentation which was given by Philip Cooper (INTECSEA Global Technology Director) and was a summary of all the presentations we had given in our internal workshop over the course of the week. technology knowlege and innovations within our global company.

At 1.30pm we started off with a warm welcome from Steve Lee (our SVP for Asia and the Middle East) and then into our first presentation which was given by Philip Cooper (INTECSEA Global Technology Director) and was a summary of all the presentations we had given in our internal workshop over the course of the week. each of the presenters in the room and suggested that if there was a topic anyone was interested in hearing more about (that wasn’t being presented in the next few hours at this Open Day) that they could have a one on one with them in the Sky Bar after. After Phil’s summary we moved on to our offical Open Day presentations:

• State-of-the-Art Low Motion FPSO

• State-of-the-Art ECA for CRA Pipelines

• Probabilistic Pipeline Life Prediction

• Advances in Subsea Power Distribution

We then concluded with a Panel Discussion involving Dr Shahreen (MPRC), Malcolm Manson (Subsea7), Professor Kurian (UTP) and Chris Mole (WorleyParsons Hydrocarbons Technical Director) and the topic was “Innovation in a Low Oil Price Environment”. This prompted some interesting discussion and debate and we are very encouraged to find interest in a JIP collaboration on one of the innovations presented in the workshop. All then moved onto the world famous Sky Bar (pictured) for further networking and knowledge sharing over some local cuisine and beverages with a world class view of the Petronas Twin Towers.

2015 has been our most successful workshop to date. At a time when we are experiencing a downturn in the oil price it was critical that we get the message to our Customers that we can help save $$$’s using our Innovation & Technology. The week was a great opportunity for our staff to connect and share their knowledge and in turn share that with the wider O&G community.
