It is radiated through the air over a broad area from solid structural elements, and often causes unwanted noise emissions in the stairwells of residential and office buildings. LASTO ® TRELA staircase bearings have proved capable of suppressing this noise effectively if applied to the stairs. The LASTO ® bi- trapezoidal core that they contain achieves a 93% insulating effect at 100Hz excitation and a reduction of up to 28dB in impact noise. LASTO ® TRELA has a special cross-section with lower dynamic stiffness than a homogeneous bearing material. Long-term dynamic response is significantly better than that of composite materials, and the full function is retained throughout the building’s life-cycle. The principle LASTO ® TRELA is used for prefabricated stairs and pedestals in various dimensions and patterns. Impact noise caused by footsteps is a specific form ofstructurally transmitted noise. It is radiated through the airover a broad area from solid structural elements, and oftencauses unwanted noise emissions in the stairwells ofresidential and office buildings. LASTO®TRELA staircasebearings have proved capable of suppressing this noiseeffectively if applied to the stairs. The principle

LASTO®TRELA is used for prefabricated stairs andpedestals in various dimensions and patterns.LASTO®ISOTRITT, also available from us, is suitable forinstallation in riser walls, or for less severe loads, theLASTO®S pin.

Application areas

Highly effective, noise-absorbing staircase bearings, for insertion between staircases and their pedestals.

Staircase bearings for stair weights above 5,000 kg are available on request.

LASTO®TRELA staircase bearings are supplied ready for installation andmust not be opened. The staircase bearing must rest on a flat surface; failing this, a smoothmortar surface must be applied first. If the staircase bearing is applied previously to prefabricated stairs, werecommend the use of our installation tape.If the stairs are of concrete cast in situ, the intervening spaces and jointgaps of the LASTO®TRELA staircase bearings should be filled andcovered to prevent concrete from entering.A rigid connection must be avoided, since the spring action of the bearingmust always be maintained.
