Insulated Metal Panels

Building and energy codes are becoming increasingly more stringent. panels are an ideal choice when you are in need of a

thermally efficient building envelope.

insulated panels are available in seven wall panel profiles, both vertical and horizontal, and two roof panel profiles. They come in a variety of panel thicknesses and widths, giving you a number of options from which to choose. The wide array of thicknesses offers unparalleled energy efficiency that can be custom-tailored to a project’s specific needs.

Products

IMPs consist of two single-skin metal panels and a foamed-in-place core. The foam insulation is made of non-chlorofluorocarbon (non-CFC) polyisocyanurate foam. The cell structure is 98 percent closed with a density of 2.2 pounds per cubic feet (minimum). ’s low nominal density allows for increased R-values of up to 7.69* per inch of insulation. It also prevents the foam from absorbing water and allows it to be insect and rodent resistant.

*For R-value information, please call the sales department at (877) 713-6224.

Testing Information

MBCI is committed to an aggressive, independent physical testing program to meet and exceed code requirements on uplift ratings, water penetration, structural performance, core density and adhesion. All of MBCI’s panel offerings have gone through rigorous testing to ensure enhanced performance.

MBCI provides full test data for each panel profile at the different width and thickness options, including positive and negative loading, fire resistance and R-values. Testing information can be found in the Technical Design brochure or on MBCI’s website at www.ecoficientseries.com.

Insulated fire Resistant Panels

Insulated FIRe ResIstant Panel

The Insulated Fire Resistant Panel consists of metal facings bonded to a structural mineral wool core to create a composite panel that achieves fire resistance ratings under the most demanding of conditions. Unlike traditional wall materials, the Insulated Fire Resistant Panel offers a level of flexibility architects, contractors and building owners won’t find in any other product in the U.S. The mineral wool panel is rated for its 1-, 2- and 3-hour fire resistance qualities and provides satisfactory thermal performance and protection from the elements. The R-value of this panel is 3.61 per inch of insulation.

feATuReS & BenefITS

• Resists high temperatures and will not burn because of mineral wool core

• Can be disassembled, moved and reinstalled rather than having to be demolished, waste materials disposed of and the walls completely rebuilt

• Elimination of installation of separate cement board splines at side jointof panel to maintain fire resistance with exclusive integral spline design

• Good sound reduction acoustical properties because of mineral wool

• Dimensionally stable, water repellent and will not expand

• Can be combined with other panels for an aestheticallyconsistent profile facing, texture and color

HPCI BaRRIeR™ Panel

The HPCI Barrier™ insulated metal panel is an air, water, thermal and vapor barrier panel that can be used behind any type of façade. This back-up panel is installed in a horizontal orientation completely outside the structural supports. There are no thermal bridges to reduce the energy efficiency of the wall. HPCI Barrier™ is quick and easy to install and provides an economical solution to conventional air, water, thermal and vapor control without sacrificing thermal efficiency. This panel must be separated from the interior of the building by an approved thermal barrier of .5" (12.7 mm) gypsum wallboard to meet IBC requirements.

BuIldInG BeneFIts Gain longer spanning capabilities requiring fewer structural supports than similar building materials, which may reduce the building’s framing cost in both material and labor

Lightweight and arrive to job site ready for installation allowing for faster and easier installation, reducing labor costs and providing earlier business starts and quicker payback on the capital investment

Due to high insulating capabilities, less insulation space is needed to comply with building energy codes leading to maximized enclosed space

Provide an architecturally pleasing appearance with our concealed fastener profiles

Available in a wide variety of colors and profiles and can be customized to meet the needs, design and function of most construction applications

Offered in a vast selection of applied finishes, allowing the building’s exterior to resemble granite, masonry and other conventional construction materials

Adaptable for use with many other building materials including concrete tilt-up, stucco, brick, block, single- skin metal panels, glazing and EIFS

Requires minimal maintenance that can lead to potential cost savings over the lifetime of the building

Alleviate water wicking, as common with fiberglass insulation, because of the closed cell nature of the foam

Ancillary cost reductions related to increased energy efficiency, HVAC equipment capacity reductions and more

energy Cost Savings

The energy savings that can be achieved by using panels varies by geographical location. In order to illustrate the effect, a hypothetical commercial warehouse was modeled using a US Department of Energy (DOE) building energy modeling system. This building was modeled with two different envelope configurations in four geographical locations. The parameters for the study are as follows:

BuIldInG InFoRmatIon

noTe 1

These results are based on energy modeling using the DOE-2 software as described above with TMY2 climatological data obtained from the National Renewable Energy Labs for the noted locations. This software is a tool used for comparison purposes only; it does not purport to predict actual energy savings. It is the same type of tool used to evaluate energy code compliance using performance methods.

The GHG product is based solely off of natural gas and electricity energy savings using the EPA Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator.
