Under general supervision, Instrumentaon Technicians perform a variety of journey-level technical tasks relave to major and minor repairs of a wide variety of electronic, electrical, pneumac, and mechanical instrumentaon equipment and systems within the City; and perform other related work as required. Assignments are performed with minimal instrucon. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service, a posive atude, and good interpersonal/problem-solving skills. The candidate will be highly movated, have the ability to work independently, and enjoy technical instrumentaon challenges. In addion, the ideal candidate will have academic knowledge, field experience, and professional experience in Instrumentaon. The candidate must be dedicated to connuous improvement, innovaon, and quality service. Required Qualificaons Educaon: High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by technical courses or training in maintenance and repair of instrumentaon and electrical components and systems. Addional coursework in advanced mathemacs, science, or engineering is desirable. INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN I: Experience: At least one (1) year of full-me technical work experience in the maintenance and repair of instrumentaon systems. Experience in water producon and wastewater operaons is preferred. INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN II: Experience: At least two (2) years of full-me increasingly responsible technical experience with a strong emphasis in water producon and wastewater operaons including the maintenance and repair of instrumentaon systems and experience with industrial, HMI/PLC maintenance, troubleshoong, and programming. Licenses and/or Cerficates Required Possession of a valid California drivers license is required. INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN II: Possession of a California Water Environment Associaon (CWEA) Electrical Instrumentaon Technology Grade I Cerficate, ISA Cerfied Control Systems Technician (CCST) Level I Cerficate, or equivalent industry standard cerficate, required within eighteen (18) months of hire. Required Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by technical courses or training in maintenance and repair of instrumentation and electrical components and systems. Additional coursework in advanced mathematics, science, or engineering is desirable.

INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN I: Experience: At least one (1) year of full-time technical work experience in the maintenance and repair of instrumentation systems. Experience in water production and wastewater operations is preferred.

INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN II: Experience: At least two (2) years of full-time increasingly responsible technical experience with a strong emphasis in water production and wastewater operations including the maintenance and repair of instrumentation systems and experience with industrial, HMI/PLC maintenance, troubleshooting, and programming.

Licenses and/or Certificates Required

Possession of a valid California driver’s license is required. INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN II: Possession of a California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Electrical Instrumentation Technology Grade I Certificate, ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) Level I Certificate, or equivalent industry standard certificate, required within eighteen (18) months of hire.
