Georgia O’Keeffe was an artist best known for her large abstract paintings of flowers. O’Keeffe began her career creating abstract charcoal drawings and these unique drawings skills led her to come to New York City and meet Alfred Steiglitz; the two would later become lovers. Steiglitz, a prominent photographer in New York City, was inextricably drawn to the modernist feel of her abstract drawings and paintings, but was also fascinated by her dark, soft features, and took many photographs of her while they were together.
