The awards are as follows; 1.Garner Thémoin Award - Advancement of the Profession Award The Garner Thémoin Award is presented to an individual whose modest, unselfish, sincere, and per- sistent efforts for the advancement of Purchasing, Supply Management and Logistics and whose able assistance and guidance to purchasing agents in their endeavours have eminently qualified him/her for one of the highest IFPMM awards. 2.Hans Ovelgönne - Purchasing Research Award The Hans Ovelgnönne Award is made to an individual from a University, Company or Association for their outstanding contribution to the development of Purchasing and Supply Management based on Research and Development studies and works. 3.Lewis E. Spangler - Purchasing Professional Award The Lewis E. Spangler Award is made to an individual coming from a Company or Association where he/she has proved an outstanding commitment to the profession of Purchasing and Supply Man- agement by evidence of successful contribution to the bottom line as well as by support given to their collaborators in the field of Education and Training. Nominations for any of the above awards should be submitted to the ISMM office at ismmsri- [email protected] on the nomination form no later than 25th August 2011. The 39th Anniversary Banquet & Get together is scheduled for Friday 21st October at the Ceylon Conti-nental Hotel. This is the most important event in the ISMM calendar of the year where all members get an opportunity to interact with fellow members of all ages and exchange views and ideas and enjoy fel-lowship. The Chief Guest is yet to be finalized. Details will be intimated to members in the next Newslet-ter as well as by a special flier to enable members to confirm participation. Therefore please keep the date free – FRIDAY 21st OCTOBER 2011.

An evening seminar organized by the Seminars and Functions Committee was held at the OPA Auditorium on 02nd June 2011 for the benefit of members and stu-dents. Mr.Ravi de Silva, Consultant, So-cial & Environmental Management of Ait-ken Spence Hotel Managements (Pvt.) Ltd. delivered a very interesting and thought provoking lecture on “Sustainable Logistics”.

Mr.Anil Ponweera, Vice President ISMM attended the Summer School in Salzburg Vienna in July 2011. It is or-ganized annually by the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management (IFPSM) for the benefit of supply chain scholars worldwide. The theme of the school was "16th IFPSM Summer School for Advance Purchasing Theories in Research" at-tended by 18 PhD Students and 2 SCM Practicing Professionals selected by IFPSM. Program conducted from 7th -12th July in Salzburg University. Re-source persons were 6 of the most ex-perienced SCM Professors from UK, Netherlands, Canada & Italy.
