HAMPTON BY HILTON

The National Graphene Institute is a research institute and building at the University of Manchester that is focused on the research of graphene. Construction of the building to house the institute started in 2013 and finished in 2015. The five-story glass-fronted building provides 7,600 square metres of research space. This includes 1,500 square metres of class 100 and class 1000 clean rooms, one of which occupies the entire lower ground floor to minimise vibrations. There is an addition of laser, optical, metrology and chemical laboratories along with offices, a seminar room and accommodation. The top floor also includes a roof terrace, which has 21 different grasses and wildflowers designed to attract urban bees and other species of pollinators. The outside of the building consists of a composite cladding, with an external stainless steel ‘veil’. The building faces on to Booth Street East and was designed by Jestico + Whiles.

The designers have created a stunning exterior for the building, and rightly so with ground breaking scientific work being carried out. In such a location only the best would suffice. The state-of-the-art National Graphene institute is one building we are very proud to install our flagship INTRAform Entrance Matting with Black anodised frame and black rubber inserts to keep the dirt out and maintain safety in the building. INTRAsystems worked hand in hand to create a state-of-the-art installation that is both stunning and functional. MANCHESTERNATIONAL GRAPHENE INSTITUTE

It’s believed to be the biggest restaurant and leisure complex in the UK and one of the biggest in Europe, the Watermark West Quay is truly bringing the name of Southampton in the limelight. “West Quay Watermark provides a real destination for the people of Southampton and surrounding areas” said Steve Cox managing director of KuPP. It’s not just the shoppers that are benefiting, the local economy is advancing through the creation of 500 jobs. S o u t h a m p t o n City Council said the “bold and innovative” building was an “important regeneration project for the city centre”.The design includes upper and lower walkways with restaurants and cafes, a 10-screen cinema and bowling alley set above. The building occupies a long-vacant brownfield site close to another centre, which also houses a cinema and restaurants. A new public square in front of the city’s historical wall will be used for open air screenings and concerts. Further phases of development could incorporate a hotel and residential tower, the council said.

Get Kids Going! is a national charity which gives disabled children and young people - up to the age of 26 yrs - the wonderful opportunity of participating in sport. We provide them with specially built sports’ wheelchairs so they can do: athletics, marathons, tennis, skiing, rugby, sailing, boccia, basketball, sledge hockey, table tennis, fencing, shooting, archery, powerlifting and many more sports.Our very own Peter Farrant ran the London Marathon to help support the charity!
