Notion offunction sheet

In order to commission Sepam 2000, settings are entered via the PCcomputer and then sent to the Sepam 2000.

There are three categories of settings or parameters for Sepam 2000. Eachcategory of settings is split into functions. The SFT2821 software presentseach function in the form of a function sheet. The 3 categories of settingsare:

n "status" parameters, for example:

r Phase CT – E/F sensor,

r VT ratio

r Communication

r...

n "program logic" settings and parameters. The settings and parameters are grouped together in two data sheets:

r Timer

r Parameters

n "protections" settings. These settings are grouped together in severalfunction sheets marked F01 to F99.

There may be one or more protection sheet relays. Each relay is coveredby a tab. Each tab is marked Fxxy in which xx is the function number andthe relay number.

For example:

r F014: relay 4 of sheet F01

r F181: Sheet 18 (there is only one relay for this function)

In the rest of the document, the expression "function sheet" may relate to"Status", "Program Logic" or "Protection".

Introduction

SFT2821 - Installation - Use 03144389EN-A0 6

Cartridge referenceThe presence of the "status" parameters and the protection functionsettings depend on the hardware set-up of the Sepam 2000.

Parameters that are modified by the user are logged in setting files in auser-chosen directory, selected at the time the data are saved.

The user chooses the location and name of the setting file. The setting filesuffix is mandatory and is forced to ".rgl".

The “Setting” directory is the default directory proposed to users whenthey save file settings on their disks. During such save operations, usersmay:n select another directory,n subdivide the directory into sub-directories according to hardware set-ups

When a new setting file is entered, the SFT2821 software proposes theselection of a reference from a list of Sepam 2000 cartridge references.

When a new setting file is entered, the parameters of the different sheetsand relays are defined with the application’s default parameters.

They are not used by Sepam 2000.

The list of cartridge references recognized by the software is frozen. However, there are cartridge references, noted "4xxZ00" or "6xxZ00", forwhich all of the protection sheets are defined with a maximum number ofrelays. This allows users to prepare the setting files of customized Sepam2000 units.

The format of setting files, as well as the format of the file containing the listof cartridges, are proprietary formats. These files therefore cannot be usedoutside the SFT2821 software.

Conditions for useThe PC supporting the SFT2821 software is physically connected to theSepam 2000 using the ACE900 connection kit presently delivered with theSFT2801 terminal emulation software.

The SFT2821 software only operates with Sepam 2000 compatibleapplications, i.e. Sepam 2000 S26 and Sepam 2000 S36 applications laterthan 99xx. It does not operate with earlier applications, or with Sepam 2000S46 applications. Any attempt to use SFT2821 with a non-compatibleapplication is indicated and does not disturb the application.

Kit componentsThe ACE 900 connection kit delivered with the SFT2821 software consistsof:

n 1 Sepam 2000/ RS232 interface box,

n 1 PC / interface serial connection cord.

Connection The interface should be plugged into the inlet on the front panel of Sepam2000, behind the small flap door. The other end is connected to the COM 1,COM 2, COM3 or COM4 communication port (whichever was selected atthe time of installation) on the PC.

The communication port is chosen via a configuration menu.

It is mandatory for the ACE 900 connection kit supplied in the SFT2821kit to be used to connect the PC and Sepam 2000. The use of any other cord, or the absence of the interface, could causeSepam 2000 operating difficulties.

Saving a setting file This function is used to save the Sepam 2000 settings: n in the current setting file ("Save" function), n or in a new setting file ("Save As" function)

The function is activated via the menu bar ("Save" submenu) or via thetoolbar.

The "Save" function is only allowed: n if one of the parameters has been modified in the current setting file.Saving is done in the current setting file. n if there is a new setting file ("New" function) and the data have not beensaved in a setting file.

For new setting files for the “Save” and “Save As” functions, the SFT2821software asks the user to indicate the file name and directory in which itshould be saved, via the following dialogue window:

The suffix of the setting file is always ".rgl.”

The SFT2821 software runs a check and informs the user if the save is totake place in a file that already exists. The user then has the option ofrefusing the save operation.

Messages indicate any errors and, in such cases, propose retrying thesave.

Comparing setting files This function is used to compare the contents of two Sepam 2000 settingfiles. The files must use the same cartridge reference.

The function is activated via the menu bar (“Compare” submenu)).

The "Compare" function is may be used if no setting files are open.

The comparison function request the user to choose the two files to becompared.

To start up the comparison, the user activates the "Compare" button.

The result of the comparison can be of three types:

n The setting files are identical,

n The setting files are incompatibles, i.e. the references of the cartridgesused in each file are different.

n The setting files use the same cartridge reference, but show differencesin the function settings. In such cases, the comparison function lists thefunctions for which there are comparison errors.

A setting entered in two different ways generates an error. For example, atime delay set to 50 ms in one file and to 005 s in the other file generates acomparison error.

Printing

SFT2821 - Installation - Use 03144389EN-A0 16

Introduction This function is used to print the active setting file.

Printing takes place on the default printer, defined in the Windows™control panel.

Printing errors (e.g. paper missing) are reported to the user via theprint manager (outside SFT2821 software).

Print This function is activated via the menu bar (“Print” submenu) or viathe toolbar.

The function may only be accessed after a setting file has beenopened.

Print format The print format is as follows:

n on the first page:

r a designation indicating the reference of the cartridge used toinitiate the setting file,

r file name,

r current date.

n parameters that correspond to the "Status" sheets. A "Status"designation precedes the printing of the "Status" sheets.

For each "status" sheet:

r a hyphen is printed between the sheets,

r the sheet designation is printed,

r each parameter in the sheet is then printed on a different line inthe following form:

'parameter name' = value of the ‘unit’ parameter'

n settings that correspond to the "Protection" sheets.A "Protection" designation precedes the printing of the sheets. The settings are printed:

r sheet by sheet,

r relay by relay for a sheet.

The print format is the same as that described previously.

N.B. Certain access conditions are defined in the sheets (e.g."Number of VTs"). If access is prohibited, the parameters will beprinted but the value of the parameter will be replaced by “Settingimpossible".

n protection settings and parameter settings that correspond to the“Program Logic” sheets. A “Program Logic” designation precedesthe printing of the sheets.

An example of a printout is given in the appendix.

Principle Consultation and/or modification of settings may be accessed afterthe opening of a setting file or after the creation of a new setting file.

In the rest of the document, the term "consultation" refers to bothconsultation and modification of settings.

The user consults the settings by accessing a function sheet.

Displaying afunction

The settings specific to a function are presented to the user in theform of a “function sheet” contained in a “tab box” in the center ofthe screen.

For the "Status" or "Program Logic" function sheets, a tab box witha single tab is used, with the tab representing a “Status” function ora “Program Logic” function respectively.

Presentation ofsettings

The settings are displayed in the screen, according to the case:

n in the form of a data item composed of a “Value” field and “ Unit”field.

The "Value" field is a numerical data entry zone in which the usermay enter 3 significant digits at the most. The entry of a decimalpoint in this field is allowed.

The "Unit" field is a pull-down list in which the user canchoose the data unit.

With this presentation, it is possible to enter a data item in differentforms. For example, a data item entered as 450 A is equivalent tothe item 0.45 kA.

n in the form of a numerical value followed, if necessary, by a dataitem indicating the unit. The unit, in this case, is frozen.

or

The user can enter 3 significant digits at most for this type of value.According to the type of value, it may or may not be possible toenter a decimal point. For example:

r entry possible:

r entry prohibited:

with corresponding to the current valueof the setting.

n in the form of a list of possible choices. This principle is used forsettings for which there are more than 4 options.

It is possible to move from field to field by pressing the "TAB" key onthe keyboard.

Modifying settings Each function sheet includes two buttons "OK" and "Cancel".

Whenever one of the fields displayed in the screen is modified by theuser, the two buttons "OK" and "Cancel" are activated, and all of theother functions of the SFT2821 software, activated via the menu barand/or the toolbar, are disabled.

Pressing "OK" triggers a consistency check (see below) and, ifeverything is OK:

n the new values of the sheet are taken into account. The newsetting values are logged in the PC memory. The user should thensave all of the modifications in the current setting file ("Save" or"Save As" function),

n the two buttons "OK" and "Cancel" are no longer active,

n all of the SFT2821 software functions are enabled again, exceptfor software customization.

When "Cancel" is pressed:

n the two buttons "OK" and "Cancel" are no longer active,

n the modifications of the sheet displayed are cancelled,

n the values prior to the modification are displayed,

n all of the SFT2821 software functions are enabled again except forsoftware customization.

Rounding off values The setting value that results from data entry may be rounded off to alower value. Rounding off depends on the setting. It takes place atthe time that the function settings are confirmed ("OK" button). Thenew value of the setting is displayed in the screen, afterconfirmation. For example, rounding off may be:

n to 10 ms for a time delay. A delay of 176 ms is therefore rounded off to 170 ms

n to 1 A for a phase current value,

n to 0.1 A for an earth fault value,

n ....

Setting consistencycheck

When a function sheet is confirmed ("OK" button), the SFT2821software runs a semantic check of the settings.

This check may concern:

n consistency between the various function settings,

n consistency of the settings with respect to the Sepam 2000general settings.

The semantic check of the settings is carried out with the roundedoff value of the settings.

The sheet settings are only stored in the PC memory if the results ofthe semantic checks linked to the function sheet are OK.

Error messages are displayed in an error window. The error designation indicates the following:

n name of the sheet with the error and the relay with the error,

n mnemonic of the erroneous setting,

n a designation describing the errors,

Press the "OK" button in this window to go back to the currentfunction sheet.

For Status function sheets, in addition to the checks run on thesheet settings, semantic checks are run on all the functions, withindication of any errors. An error in another function does not callinto question the storage of the Status sheet settings.

Transferring settings

SFT2821 - Installation - Use 03144389EN-A0 25

Principle There are 3 types of transfer functions. The role of the functions is to transfer all the Sepam 2000 settings from theSepam 2000 to an image file on the PC disk:

n downloading of Sepam 2000 settings from a particular setting file. Thisfunction is activated via the "Download (PC -> Sepam 2000)" submenu.

n downloading of Sepam 2000 settings with default setting values. Thisfunction is activated via the "Download Default setting file" submenu.

n uploading of Sepam 2000 settings into a setting file. This function isactivated via the "Upload (Sepam 2000 à PC)" submenu.

Prior to all transfer operations, the SFT2821 software asks the user, if thereis a setting file being modified, if he/she wants to save the modifications onthe disk.

In any event, the SFT2821 software closes the current setting file againbefore performing the data transfer.

Before carrying out a transfer operation, it is necessary to:

n connect the PC to the Sepam 2000 using the ACE 900 connection kit(See "ACE 900 connection kit" section),

n indicate to the software the communication port via which the data is tobe transferred (See "Choice of the communication port" section),

n make sure that the Sepam 2000 is compatible with the SFT2821software (See "Conditions for use" section).

The SFT2821 software can detect a large number of cases of errors. Theerrors are displayed in error messages. Following confirmation of themessages by the user ("OK" button), the transfer function is canceled andthe main screen is displayed again.

Whatever the transfer function and the transfer phase under way, when theSFT2821 software detects a transmission error (e.g. parity error, overflowerror, damaged connection cord, Sepam 2000 disconnected or de-energized, incorrect version of Sepam 2000...), the following error messageis displayed:

If the SFT2821 software can no longer transmit to Sepam 2000 (error due tothe communication port), the following error message is displayed:

In the case of errors, the SFT2821 software tries to put the Sepam 2000back into normal status.

Identification Whichever transfer function is selected, a Sepam 2000 identification phasetakes place at the very beginning of the transfer operation.

The purpose of this phase is to:

n initialize the communication port,

n dialogue with the Sepam 2000,

n check that the Sepam 2000 version is compatible with the SFT2821software,

n check the reference of the cartridge to be downloaded against that of thesetting file (case of downloading from a specific setting file),

n enter and then send a password for downloading operations.

Throughout the Sepam 2000 identification phase, a window with apercentage of progress is displayed.

The user has the possibility of interrupting the function under way bypressing the "Cancel" button.

If the SFT2821 software is unable to configure the communication portindicated at the time of customization, it displays the following message:

If connection errors or a missing link are detected, the SFT2821 softwaredisplays the following message:

If the SFT2821 software detects continuous receiving during the Sepam2000 identification phase, it displays the following error message:

The compatibility of the Sepam 2000 with the SFT2821 software isdetermined by means of a Sepam 2000 identification request. If the Sepam2000 does not respond to the request, the SFT2821 software displays thefollowing message:

If the Sepam 2000 is identified, for downloading operations from a specificsetting file, the SFT2821 software checks the compatibility between:

n the Sepam 2000 cartridge reference,

n the reference of the cartridge contained in the setting file to betransferred.

If there is a difference, the SFT2821 software displays the followingmessage.

It is then possible to continue the transfer function ("Yes" button) or elsestop it ("No" button).

Once the identification phase is over, the window showing progress iserased from the screen.

The identification phase takes about 30 seconds.

Downloading function

Downloading from a particular setting file and downloading from a faultsetting file are almost identical.

The downloading functions do not check the contents of the setting filetransmitted to the Sepam 2000, but simply that the transfer has takenplace correctly.

Before performing the downloading operation, the SFT2821 software asksthe user to confirm downloading, indicating that the Sepam 2000 settingswill be lost.

The user has the options of:

n continuing to download by pressing the "Yes" button

n interrupting the function by pressing the "No" button.

If the user answers yes, and if it is for downloading from a particular settingfile, the SFT2821 software asks the user to indicate the file name anddirectory, via a dialogue window:

The identification phase described previously then takes place.
