    Vent hood Combinations:A suitable overhead vent hood is required for modelswith a grill and is recommended for all other models.

    • Install a hood with at least 1200 CFM above a 48"wide range.

    • Install a hood with at least 600 CFH above a 30" or36" range,

    Due to the high heat capacity of this unit, particularattention should be paid to the hood and ductworkinstallation to assure it meets local building codes.

    WARNING:Clearances to horizontal surfaces above the range,measured to the cooking surface are below. Failure tocomply may result in fire hazard.• Installations without a hood require 48" minimum to

    combustibles.

    • A custom hood installation with exposedhorizontaJcombustibles surfaces must have an Auto-Onfeature.

    • For other installations with a hood, refer to hoodinstallation instructions for specific hood clearances.

    ACAUTION:These ranges weigh up to 700 pounds. Somedisassembly will reduce the weight considerably.     Leak testing of the appliance shall be conductedaccording to the manufacturer's instructions.Installation must conform with local codes. In Canada, installation mustconform with the current Natural Gas Installation Code,CAN/CGA-B149.1 or the current Propane InstallationCode,CAN/CGA-B149.2,and with local codes whereapplicable.     BACKSPLASH ACCESSORIES

    All modets require 12" minimum clearance to avertical combustible surface at the rear. If clearanceis less than 12", the entire surface of the back waltabove and the full width of the range must beprotected by a backsplash. The backsplash must beconstructed of non-combustible material, such asmetal, ceramic tile, brick, marble or other stone.

    Two Backsplash Accessories Available:• The 12" high stainless steel backsplash accessory

    is available. Use this backsplash in combinationwith a custom, non-combustible backspiash builtbeyond the 12" height. The combined height ofthe backsplash accessory and the custombacksplash must reach the bottom of a hood,or when there is no hood, to 48" above thecooking surface.

    • An adjustable 30" to 56" high backsplash withshelf is also available. This backspiash fills in thespace between the top of the range and thebottom of the hood. The shelf is positioned so thatheat lamps from the bottom of a Monogramprofessional hood are directed towards the shelf.

  • Installation Preparation

    POWER SUPPLY LOCATIONS

    Gas Supply:

    • The natural gas models are designed to operate at5" water column pressure. For proper operation, thepressure of the natural gas supplied to the regulatormust be between 7" and 13" water column.

    • The LP models are designed to operate at 10" watercolumn pressure. For proper operation, the pressureof the LP gas supplied to the regulator must bebetween t1" and 13" water column.

    • Locate the pipe stub on the back wall or floor asillustrated in "Dimensions and Clearances." Use

    5-foot maximum length, 5/8" O.D. flexible gas supplyline (3-foot in Massachusetts).

    Electric Supply:

    Your range must be electrically grounded inaccordance with local codes, in accordance withNational Electrical Code {ANS!!NFPA 70, latestedition), in Canada, electrical grounding must be inaccordance with the current CSA CZ2.! CanadianElectrical Code Part 1. See Electrica! Connections in thissection.

    CAUTIONDo not attempt to operate the oven if this range ofthis range during a power failure.

    STEP 1 REMOVE PACKAGING

    CAUTIONStand clear. The ends of the cut metal banding maysnap toward you.

    • Open oven door{s) and remove packaging.Remove shelf holding broiler pan, tape, literaturepackage, shelf lubricant and probe.

    • Cut the metal banding. Lift the carton straight up.

    oLocate the two runner strips from the topof the packaging. These strips will be used toprotect the kitchen floor during installation.

    ° Remove corner posts, Dispose of packagingmaterials.

    • Remove grill/griddle covers, grill grate and burnergrates.

    • Lift out cast-iron griddle flue cover, grease troughsand pads.

    • Cut the ties holding the grill grate to the grill frame.

    REMOVETHE OVEN DOOR(S)ONLY IF NECESSARYto move the range through the doorways. Toprevent damage to the sides of the range, it will benecessary to pad the corners beneath the strapson the hand-truck.

    • Each hinge has a hinge latch. Close the hingelatch down against the door frame.

    ° Firmly grasp the door at the top sides.

    ° Close the door to the near-vertical position.

    ° Lift the door up and pull straight out.

    • Remove the control knobs by pulling themstraight out.

    STEP 2 HOVE THE RANGE INDOORS

    1 Tilt the range forward on the skid.

    2 Lift the toekick out of the foam base.

    4 Attach the hand-truck straps around the unit.

    IMPORTANT: Place the hand-truck straps belowthe oven door handles. To avoid damaging theside panels, place o pod between the hand-truckand the range.

    5 Tilt the range to lower the hand-truck wheelsoff the skid.

    3 Drive the blade of the hand-truck beneaththe foam block.

    6 Place the appliance runners on the floorat the left and right sides in front of the opening.

    IMPORTANT: The runners provide a surface forrafting the range into the final position and wiltprotect the floor finish. The runners must beremoved before leveling the range.

    7 Hove the range indoors. Position the rangein front of the installation location, ontothe runners.

    You may need to remove thefront of the foam block to fitthrough the doorway.

    IMPORTANT: Do not remove the base Foamblock while the hand-truck is in use. Placethe hand-truck blade underneath the basefoam block and transport the range to the finallocation.

    STEP 3 INSTALL ANTI-TIP DEVICE

    * All ranges can tip.

    - BURNS or other SERIOUS INJURIEScan result.

    o INSTALL and CHECK the ANTI-TIP

    bracket following these instructions.

    To reduce the risk of tipping the range, the range mustbe secured by a properly installed anti-tip bracket. Seeinstallation instructions shipped with the bracketfor complete details before attempting to install.

    To check if the bracket is installed and engaged properly,look underneath the range. The anti-tip bracket shouldbe inserted into the opening on the antFtip brace on therange. If the bracket arm misses the brace to the left orright, or the bracket arm is not protruding through thebrace opening, the bracket must be reinstalled.

    If the range is pulled from the wall for any reason, alwaysrepeat this procedure to verify the range is properlysecured by the anti-tip bracket.

    If your range has no anti-tip bracket, call 1.800.626.8774to receive one at no cost.

    If the anti-tip device supplied with the range does not fit thisapplication, use the universal Anti-Tip DeviceWB2X7%9.

    Read the AHAIViAnti-Tip Safety Brochure packed withthe bracket.

    • Attach the anti-tip brace onto the bottom of therange in the recessed area. Install 2 hex screws(provided) through the brace and into the range.

    NOTE: This anti-tip device may be installed on theopposite side of the range.

    - Measure end mark Dimension A (see table below)from the left {or right) side of the installationlocation. If the countertop has on overhang,add that dimension to Dimension A,

    • Place the anti-tip bracket against the floor andback wall at the marked location. Mark screw holesfor fastening the bracket to the wall sole plate andthe floor,

    • Drill 1/8" pilot holes at a 20° angle.° Secure the bracket to the well and/or floor with

    at least 2 wood screws (provided}.For Concrete or Cement Construction: You mustuse appropriate fastening hardware (not provided).

    STEP 4 CONNECT RANGE TO GAS

    WARNINGDo not use a flame to check for gas leaks.

    Assure that gas supply is turned offat theshut-off valve:

    • Apply pipe thread sealant to the gas inlet locatedat the back of the range. Instalt the I/2" pipeelbow {provided) to the gas inlet.

    ° Connect 5/8" O.D. flexible metal connector togas inlet. Connect the other end of the flexibleconnector to the house gas supply.

    • Turn on the gas and check for leaks:- Use a liquid leak detector at alijoints

    and connections in the system.

    IMPORTANT: Disconnect the range and theindividual shut-off valve from the gas supply pipingsystem during any pressure testing of that systemat test pressures greater than 1/2 psig. Isolate therange from the gas supply piping system by closingthe individual manual shut-off valve to the rangeduring any pressure testing of the gas supply pipingsystem at test pressures equal to or less than1/2 psig.

    NOTE: This range is equipped with a gas shut-offvalve located on top of the range, beneath the rearvent. This shut-off valve is to be used in the eventthat service is required in the future.

    STEP 5 CONNECT ELECTRICAL

    Electrical Requirements

    120-volt, 60 Hertz, properly grounded dedicatedcircuit protected by a 15-amp or 20-amp circuitbreaker or time delay fuse.

    Extension Cord Cautions

    Because of potential safety hazards associatedwith certain conditions, we strongly recommendagainst the use of an extension cord. However, if youstill elect to use an extension cord, it is absolutelynecessary that it be a UL-listed, 3-wire grounding-type appliance extension cord and that the currentcarrying rating of the cord in amperes be equivalentto, or greater than, the circuit rating.

    The power cord of this appliance is equipped witha three-prong (grounding) plug which mates with astandard three-prong grounding wal! receptacle tominimize the possibility of electric shock hazard fromthis appliance.

    The customer should have the wall receptacle andcircuit checked by a qualified electrician to makesure the receptacle is properly grounded.

    Where a standard two-prong watt receptacle isencountered, it is the personal responsibility andobligation of the customer to have it replaced with aproperly grounded three-prong wall receptacle.

    DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUHSTANCES, CUT ORREMOVE THE THIRD {GROUND} PRONG FROM THEPOWER CORD.

    A word about GFCI's - GFCI°s are not required orrecommended for gas range receptacles.

    Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI's) are devicesthat sense leakage of current in a circuit andautomatically switch off power when a thresholdleakage level is detected. These devices must bemanually reset by the consumer. The NationalElectrical Code requires the use of GFCrs in kitchenreceptacles installed to serve countertop surfaces.Performance of the range will not be affected ifoperated on a GFCI-protected circuitbut occasional nuisance tripping of the GFC! breakeris possible.

    STEP 5 CONNECT ELECTRICAL (Cont.)

    A. Usage Situations where Appliance Power Cordwill be Disconnected Infrequently.

    An adapter may be used only on a 1S-amp circuit.Do not use an adapter on a 20-amp circuit. Wherelocal codes permit, a TEMPORARY CONNECTIONmay be made to a properly grounded two-prongwall receptacle by the use of a UUlisted adapter,available at most hardware stores. The larger slot inthe adapter must be aligned with the larger slot inthe wall receptacle to provide proper polarity in theconnection of the power cord.

    ACAUTION: Attaching the adopter groundterminal to the wall receptacle cover screw does notground the appliance unless the cover screw is metal,and not insulated, and the walJ receptacle is groundedthrough the house wiring. The customer should havethe circuit checked by a qualified electrician to makesure the receptacle is property grounded.

    When disconnecting the power cord from theadapter, always hold the adapter with one hand.If this is not done, the adapter ground terminal isvery likely to break with repeated use. Should thishappen, DO NOT USE the appliance until a properground has again been established.

    STEP 6i

    ROLL RANGE INTO POSITION

    &WARNINGThe Anti-Tip Bracket must be properly installed toprevent tipping of the range. Failure to do so cancause serious damage or injury.

    • Check to be sure the appliance runners arebeneath the wheels.

    . The range is shipped with the wheels in the downposition. Carefully roll the range into position,being careful not to entangle or pinch the powercord and flexible gas tubing.

    ° Remove the runners beneath the range.

    Be sure Anti-TipBracket is engagedwith the brace onthe range.

    STEP 7 LEVEL THE RANGE

    ,WARNINGThe range must be level and be supported by thelegs-not the wheels. The range could move if thewheels make contact with the floor. Be sure ati legsmake contact with the floor in any installation.

    • Measure the distance from the floor to the top ofthe countertop in the left and right rear corners.

    • Adjust the height of the range to countertop heightor higher.

    IMPORTANT: This range should always be installedat countertop height or higher. DO NOT INSTALLTHE RANGELOWER THAN ADJACENT COUNTERTOPHEIGHT.The range must be supported by all 4 legs,regardless of countertop height.

    • Slide front cylinders up to adjust front leveling legs.Be careful not to damage cylinder.

    • A leveling leg wrench is supplied. Reach under thefront of the range near the right side. Locate andremove a thumb screw, then slide wrench out ofthe slot.

    • Approach the range with the door angled in avertical position.

    • Guide the hinges into the slots.

    • Push the door in firmly while opening.

    • Once in position, open the door completely. Pushthe hinge locks back in and toward the frontframe.

    ,& CAUTION: Take carewhen replacingthe oven doors, if the hinge latch is not securelylocked, the hinge may snap back and separate. Ifthe hinge separates, you must apply pressure{possibly with your foot} to press it back togetherand then engage the hinge latch.

    - The igniter will spark and the burner will light; theigniter will cease sparking when the burner is lit.

    - First test may require some time, while air isflushed out of the gas line.

    - Turn knob to OFF.

    - Repeat the procedure for each burner.

    IMPORTANT: If the igniter electrodes continue tospark after the burners ore lit, check that eachburner component is assembled properly. Refer tothe Owner's Manual.

    • Burner flames should be blue and stable with noyellow tips, excessive noise or lifting of the flamefrom the burner. If any of these conditions exist,check that the burner ports are not blocked. If oneof these conditions continues, call for service.

    CHECK OPERATION OF OVEN

    BAKE BURNERS

    Remove the oven bottom and diffuser {refer tosections 6A & B of the conversion installationinstructions, page 24).

    To operate the Bake burner, turn the Oven NodeSelector knob to Bake and turn the Oven Tem-perature Knob to 350. After 30 to 90 seconds,the burner will ignite.

    Flames should be steady, approximately t" bluecones and, if range is supplied with natural gas,should burn with no yellow tips. With most LPgas, small yellow tips at the end of the outer gascones are normal. The inner cone of the flameshould be 1/2" to 3/4" long for either gas.

    Perform the some check on the companion ovenif present.

    STEP 12 CHECK OPERATION OF OVEN

    BROIL BURNER

    The broil burner must be on and warmed up for 3rain. prior to checking operation.

    1. To operate the Broil burner, turn the Oven HodeSelector knob to Broil and turn the Oven Tem-perature Knob to Broil Hi. After 30 to 90 sec-onds, the burner ,will ignite.There should be on even blanket of flame cover-ing the entire surface of the screen that is blueand barely visible, approximately 1/4" long. Afterapproximately 3 rain., the screen area shouldbegin to glow orange.

    2. Perform the same check on the companion ovenif present.

    If the flame is long and lazy, verify the properorifice is installed and the regulator is convertedproperly for your gas supply.

    FINALIZE INSTALLATION

    Place the burner grates over the burners.The grates should be seated and should not rock.

    The griddle is secured with screws. It is designedto be stationary and should not be removed.

    The griddle has two leveling screws beneaththe rear flue cover that can be used to adjustto the desired slope.

    The two inner screws are damping screwsfor securing the griddle in place. Loosen these twoscrews before leveling. Do not remove these twoscrews.

    The two outer screws are leveling screws. Do notremove these two screws. They can be turned tolevel the griddle or to provide a forward slope tohelp grease and oils drain away from the foodbeing cooked.

    After Ieveling the griddle, hand-tighten theclamping screws; do not over-tighten.

    ADJUST BURNER FLAMES

    Normally, burners do not need further adjustmentHake adjustmentsonly when necessary.

    A. Turn on the gas. Plug in eIectricol cord.

    B. Turn all burners on highest setting end checkthe flumes. They should be blue in color. Whenusing LPgas, the flames may hove some yellowtipping at the ends of the flame. Foreign particlesin the gas line may cause an orange flame at first,but this will soon disappear.

    C. Turn the burner knob to "LO" while observing theflame.

    Adjust the setting of the upper row of flames usingthe valve bypass screw as follows:Adjustments must be mode with two other burnersin operation on e medium setting. This prevents theupper row of flames from being set too low, resultingin the flume being e×tinguishedwhen other burnersore turned on.

    D. To adjust the flame, remove the knobs. Insert e smellflat-blade screwdriver into the hole in the center ofthe valve stem to engage screw.

    • If the flames are too smell or flutter,turn the screw counterclockwise.

    • ffthe flames are too large, turn the screwclockwise.

    E. Hake the adjustment by slowly turning the screwuntil flame appearance is correct.

    ETAPE 1 SORTEZ L'APPAREIL DE SON EMBALLAGE

    A ATTENTION • Ouvrez Idles)porte(s} du four et retirezMaintenez-vous _ l'_cart. Les extr6mit_s des bandes l'emballage. Retirez l'6tag6re qui supporte le plotm_talliques d_coup_es peuvent vous blesser, de cuisson0 le ruban, I'emballoge, le lubrifiant

    pour 6tag_re et la sonde.

    • Coupez les bandes m6tatliques. Soutevez le carton.

    • Loca!isez les deux bandes du dessus de t'embalfage.Ces bandes serviront 6 prot6ger le sol de ia cuisinependant l'installation.

    • Retirez les montants d'angle. Jetez les mat6riauxd'emballage.

    •Retirez tes couvercles de la plaque chauffante/dugrill, les grilles du grill et des brOleurs.

    • Soulevez le couvercle en fonte de la plaquechauffante, les bacs r6cup6rateurs de graisseet les cales.

    • Coupez ies attaches qui fixent la grille du grill

    au cadre du grill. Couvercle d'a6ration de plaque chauffante

    2 Soutevez la plinthe du socle en mousse.

    3 Poussez ia bavette du diabie sous ie bloc de mousse.

    Ins_rez la bavettedu diabte sous lebloc de mousse

    II se peut que vous deviez retirerI'avant dub!oc de mousse pourpasser dons l'entr6e de porte.

    IMPORTANT: Ne retirez pas le bloc de moussede base pendant l'utilisation du chariot manuel.Placez Io tame du chariot sous te bloc de moussepuis transportez la cuisini_re _ so destination finale.

    4 Attachez les sangles du chariot de manutentionautour de l'appareil.

    IMPORTANT: Placez los sangles du diabte sousles poign#es de Io porte du four. Pour #viterendommager fes ponneaux lat#mux, placezun coussin entre le diable et la cuisini_re.

    5 Indinez la cuisini_re pour abaisser les roulettesdu diable hors du frein antid_rapant.

    • Coulissez les charni&res dans les rainures.• Poussez ia porte pour ouvrir.• Une fois en position, ouvrez la porte en grand.Rabattez ou d6pliez les verrous de charni_re versle cadre avant.

    A ATTENTION : Replocezlesporl:esdu fouravecpr6caution.Sileloquetde lacharni@ren'est pas correctement verrouilt6, la charni_re pourraitse r6tracter et se d6tacher. Si ta charni6re se d6tache,vous devez appliquer une pression (avec votre pied)pour la plaquer et enclencher le Ioquet.

    et tournez-le sur LITE(feu doux).

    - L'allumeur va 6mettre des 6tincelles et le brOleurva s'allumer. L'aflumeur n'6met plus d'6tincellesune lois le brOleur allure6.

    - Prenez votre temps Iors du premier test, tandisque l'air est expuls6 du conduit de goz.

    - Tournez le bouton sur OFF.

    - Suivez cette procedure pour chaque brOlez.

    IMPORTANT : Siles 61ectrodes de l'allumeurcontinuent d'6mettre des 6tincelles apr_s I'allumagedes br01eurs, v6rifiez si toutes les pi_ces du br0teursont correctement install6es. Reportez-vousau manuel de l'utilisateur.

    •Les flammes du br01eur devraient 6tre bleueset stables sans pointejaune, de bruit excessif.Si c'est ie cos, v6rifiez siles ports du br0teur nesont pas bouch6s. Sile probl&me persiste, appetezun sp6cialiste.

    REMARQUE : La plaque signal6tique est situ6e au basdu panneau de commande. Elleest visible Iorsque laporte est ouverte. Le num6ro de s6rie et le num6rode module se situent derriere le bouton gaucheet vous pouvez l'apercevoir Iorsque le bouton estd6mont6.

    15TAPE 12 VI]RIFIEZ LE FONCTIONNEMENT

    DU BROLEUR DU GRIL DU FOUR

    Le br_leur du gril du four dolt chauffer pendant 3minutes avant de proc_der 6 sa v_rification.

    1. Pour faire fonctionner le brQleur du gril, tournezle bouton du s61ecteur de mode du four 6 Broil(grit} puis toumez le bouton du s_lecteur detemp6rature 5 Broil Hi (temp6rature 61ev6eL LebrOleur s'ollumera apr_s 30 6 90 secondes.

    Lo pr6sence d'une nappe de flamme uniformedolt couvrir toute la surface de ta plaque per-for6e, les flammes doivent 6tre bleues et 6 peinevisible et d'une hauteur d'environ 0.63 mm (1/2po}. Apr_s environ 3 minutes, la surface de taplaque perfor6e brillera d'une couieur orange.

    2. R6p_tez la m_me m_thode de v6rification pourle four lat6ral (si pr_sent).

    Si Io flamme est Iongue et fl_trie, v_rifiez si l'orificead6quat est install_ et la conversion od6quote dur_gulateur vers le type de gaz d'atimentotion devotre four.
