Installation art is an artistic genre of three-dimensional  works that are often site-specific and designed to transform the perception of a space. Generally, t he term is applied to interior spaces, whereas exterior interventions are often called public art, land art or intervention art; however, the boundaries between these terms overlap. Installation art can be either temporary or permanent. Installation artworks have been constructed in exhibition spaces such as museums and galleries, as well as public and private spaces. The genre incorporates a broad range of everyday and natural materials, which are often chosen for their evocative !ualities, as well as new media such asvideo, sound, performance, immersive virtu al reality and the internet. "any installations are site-specific in that they are designed to exist only in the spa ce for whi ch they wer e cre ated, appealing to !ualities evident in a three-dimensional immersive medium. #rtistic collectives such as the  $xhibition %ab at &ew 'ork(s  #merican "useum of &atural )istory create d environments to showcase the natural world in as realistic a medium as possible. %ikewise, *alt +isney Imagineering employed a similar philosophy when designing the multiple immersive spaces for +isneyland in . /ince its accep tance as a separa te discipline , a number of institutions focusing on Installation art were created. These included the "attress 0actory, 1ittsburgh, the "useum of Installation in %ondon, and the  0airy +oors of #nn #rbor, "I , among others. perf ormance art is a performance presented to an audience, tra dit iona lly interdisciplinary. 1erformance may be either scripted or unscripted, random or carefully orchestrated; spontaneous or other wise carefully planned with or witho ut audience participat ion. The performance can be live or via media; the performer can be present or absent. It can be any situation that involves four basic elements2 time, space, the performer(s body, or presence in a medium, and a relationship between performer and audience. 1erformance art can happen anywhere, in any venue or setting and for any length of time. The actions of an individual or a group at a particular place and in a particular time constitute the work.
