Highlights from a Busy Month It was a busy month at NVDPL. See below for details about what we got up to!

A Go-To Place for Informal Learning The Library recently started hosting programs and events for children and their families on North Vancouver School District professional development days and on days when local schools leave early for the day. Two of these days were held at the end of January and they were tremendously successful for the Library! Pair this with World Read Aloud Day on February 1 and the result was a full house!

At Capilano Library, 38 students attended read-a-thon alone to celebrate World Read Aloud Day. They read aloud to one another, decorated bookmarks, and met Celeste and Jo, a Paws 4 Stories dog. At Lynn Valley, over 200 attendees participated in library programs that week and at Parkgate, over 100!

NVDPL is embracing the role as North Vancouver's informal learning centre, we're proud to be a thriving hub for children, their families, and caregivers to go on days when they aren't in school to learn, play, and discover.

StoryLab Love Just in time for Valentine's Day, library staff took part in the consultation process for envisioning StoryLab. Staff were encouraged to send in their StoryLab Valentines, filled with ideas and inspiration for the new digital creation suite at Lynn Valley Library. Soon, the library will also host focus groups for selected partners and organizations to gain insight on additional community needs as we bring StoryLab to life.

Provincial Eating Disorder Awareness Week (PEDAW)The Library took part in Provincial Eating Disorder Awareness Month from February 1-7 by curating displays of resources and materials at each location and by participating in the Purple4PEDAW campaign. The initiative promotes awareness, education, and prevention of eating disorders in Canada by encouraging organizations and people to wear purple on February 1. The displays were wildly popular with promotional wristbands, pamphlets, and books flying off the shelves.
