Spring 2013 Foundation Phonathon In early March, Kappa Chapter at the University of Illinois hosted the second annual Foundation Phonathon. For three evenings, collegians spent hours on the phone reaching out to alumnae, thanking them for previous donations and asking for their support this year. Hundreds of Alpha Xi Deltas were called, and as of mid-May, 169 of them had answered that request. The Kappa Chapter women were an integral part of raising nearly $10,000 for the Foundation this year. We thank them and all of our Foundation donors for their support. Kappa Chapter Sisters at the 2013 Phonathon. The Inside Ink is a go-to for Fraternity information and news, Autism Speaks updates, Xi Boutique arrivals and Alpha Xi Delta fun! Alpha Kappa’s Step It Up 5K Event

Onthedayoftheevent,wewerethrilledtoseethatmorethan300individualsregisteredtoattendtheevent via our website and morethan 600 people signed up tobe phantom runners. Phantom

runners are individuals thatsign up to support the cause,even though they cannot run/walk in the event. The Step ItUp 5K Walk/Run opened withtwo local speakers, an Alpha XiDelta alumna who has a childon the autism spectrum and theorganizerofalocalWalkNowforAutismSpeaksevent.

event.

TheresultsofourStepItUpeventwere amaXIng! Our local autismcommunity attended the Walkand had nothing but praise togive.Theyofferedencouragementandassistanceforoureventnextyear.

Inadditiontobringingawarenessandunity to the community, theevent helped my chapter realizethat whenwework together, wecan accomplish great things,benefit a deserving cause andhave a significant impact on thelocalcommunity.

OurfirsteverStepitUp:5K/10Kand Easter Egg Hunt was anamaXIng success! Due to thegenerousdonationfromtheAlphaXiDeltaFoundation,wewereabletotakeoureventtoanewlevelandexceed all expectations. We hadan outstanding turnout from thethe Omaha community, and ourchapterwasabletoseefirsthandhow hard work and dedicationcandogreat thingstobenefitanorganizationlikeAutismSpeaks.

Words cannot express howhelpful this grant was. Not onlydid it providemonetary support,but it also provided us with thesupportweneededfromAlphaXiDelta Fraternity and Foundationstaff members. From thebeginningwe could tellweweregivenatremendousgift.Withthatsupport and guidance, we wereabletosoartonewphilanthropicheights and realize our potentialasanAlphaXiDeltachapter.
