Wed 16 Jan 6.30–8.30pm Tim Hugh cello

Fri 18 Jan 10am–12pm Dawn Upshaw soprano

Thu 14 Feb 6–8.30pm Joost Bosdijk bassoon

Wed 27 Mar 3.30–6.30pm Roman Simovic violin

Masterclasses form a core component in the training and development of future orchestral players and soloists. In this series, LSO players mentor musicians from the Guildhall School in performance sessions which see them concentrate on selected orchestral solos, focusing in on performance technique, sound and the players’ relationship with audience and music alike. As well as being a unique opportunity for the musicians to explore the performance stage with members of the LSO, it gives audiences a chance to see what’s behind the performance: a truly unique insight into the mind-set of the 21st century orchestral musician.
