When you can not see above the clouds from the deep valley of trials and despair, remember the beauty that awaits your break through as you hold onto Yeshua’s hand and hope in His faithfulness…

“Behold, Elohim is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for YAHWEH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.” (Isa 12:2)

The Devotion of Hearing Samuel answered, ’Speak, for Your servant hears’ 1 Samuel 3:10 Just because I have listened carefully and intently to one thing from Elohim does not mean that I will listen to everything He says. I show Elohim my lack of love and respect for Him by the insensitivity of my heart and mind toward what He says. If I love my friend, I will instinctively understand what he wants. And Yeshua said, "You are My friends if you do as I command you" ( John 15:14 ). Have I disobeyed some command of my Lord’s this week? If I had realized that it was a command of Yeshua, I would not have deliberately disobeyed it. But most of us show incredible disrespect to Elohim because we don’t even hear Him. He might as well never have spoken to us.

The goal of my spiritual life is such close identification with Messiah Yeshua that I will always hear Elohim and know that Elohim always hears me (John 11:41 ). If I am united with Messiah Yeshua, I hear Elohim all the time through the devotion of hearing. A flower, a tree, or a servant of Elohim may convey Elohim’s message to me. What hinders me from hearing is my attention to other things. It is not that I don’t want to hear Elohim, but I am not devoted in the right areas of my life. I am devoted to things and even to service and my own convictions. Elohim may say whatever He wants, but I just don’t hear Him. The attitude of a child of Elohim should always be, "Speak, for Your servant hears." If I have not developed and nurtured this devotion of hearing, I can only hear Elohim’s voice at certain times. At other times I become deaf to Him because my attention is to other things— things which I think I must do. This is not living the life of a child of Elohim. Have you heard Elohim’s voice today?

“Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of Elohim (God) as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.” (Luke 18:17)

“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”(Luke 12:32) Do you feel like a little child in our Heavenly Father’s care?

“Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of Yahweh, and in the audience of our Elohim, keep and seek for all the commandments of Yahweh your Elohim: that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for ever.” (1 Chron 28:8)

“By the word of Yahweh were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear Yahweh: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.” (Ps 33:6-9)

Yahweh has even ordered the pathways for the birds of the air…As He surely orders the paths of those who trust in Him.

“The steps of a good man are ordered by Yahweh: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for Yahweh upholdeth him with his hand.” (Ps 37:23-24)

Am I My Brother’s Keeper?" None of us lives to himself . . . Romans 14:7 Has it ever dawned on you that you are responsible spiritually to Elohim for other people? For instance, if I allow any turning away from Elohim in my private life, everyone around me suffers. We "sit together in the heavenly places . . ." ( Ephesians 2:6 ). "If one member suffers, all the members suffer with it . . ." ( 1 Corinthians 12:26 ). If you allow physical selfishness, mental carelessness, moral insensitivity, or spiritual weakness, everyone in contact with you will suffer. But you ask, "Who is sufficient to be able to live up to such a lofty standard?" "Our sufficiency is from Elohim . . ." and Elohim alone ( 2 Corinthians 3:5 ). "You shall be witnesses to Me . . ." ( Acts 1:8 ). How many of us are willing to spend every bit of our nervous, mental, moral, and spiritual energy for Messiah Yeshua? That is what Elohim means when He uses the word witness. But it takes time, so be patient with yourself. Why has Elohim left us on the earth? Is it simply to be saved and sanctified? No, it is to be at work in service to Him. Am I willing to be broken bread and poured-out wine for Him? Am I willing to be of no value to this age or this life except for one purpose and one alone— to be used to disciple men and women to the Master Messiah Yeshua. My life of service to Elohim is the way I say "thank you" to Him for His inexpressibly wonderful salvation. Remember, it is quite possible for Elohim to set any of us aside if we refuse to be of service to Him— ". . . lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified" ( 1 Corinthians 9:27 ).

“And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if Elohim so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? But seek ye first the kingdom of Elohim, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matt 6:29-30, 33)

The Inspiration of Spiritual Initiative Arise from the dead . . . Ephesians 5:14 Not all initiative, the willingness to take the first step, is inspired by Elohim. Someone may say to you, "Get up and get going! Take your reluctance by the throat and throw it overboard— just do what needs to be done!" That is what we mean by ordinary human initiative. But when the Spirit of Elohim comes to us and says, in effect, "Get up and get going," suddenly we find that the initiative is inspired.

We all have many dreams and aspirations when we are young, but sooner or later we realize we have no power to accomplish them. We cannot do the things we long to do, so our tendency is to think of our dreams and aspirations as dead. But Elohim comes and says to us, "Arise from the dead . . . ." When Elohim sends His inspiration, it comes to us with such miraculous power that we are able to "arise from the dead" and do the impossible. The remarkable thing about spiritual initiative is that the life and power comes after we "get up and get going." Elohim does not give us overcoming life— He gives us life as we overcome. When the inspiration of Elohim comes, and He says, "Arise from the dead . . . ," we have to get ourselves up; Elohim will not lift us up. Our Lord said to the man with the withered hand, "Stretch out your hand" ( Matthew 12:13 ). As soon as the man did so, his hand was healed. But he had to take the initiative. If we will take the initiative to overcome, we will find that we have the inspiration of Elohim, because He immediately gives us the power of life.

“Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day Elohim ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And Elohim blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which Elohim created and made.” (Gen 2:1-3)

Taking the Initiative Against Depression Arise and eat 1 Kings 19:5 The angel in this passage did not give Elijah a vision, or explain the Scriptures to him, or do anything remarkable. He simply told Elijah to do a very ordinary thing, that is, to get up and eat. If we were never depressed, we would not be alive— only material things don’t suffer depression. If human beings were not capable of depression, we would have no capacity for happiness and exaltation. There are things in life that are designed to depress us; for example, things that are associated with death. Whenever you examine yourself, always take into account your capacity for depression. When the Spirit of Elohim comes to us, He does not give us glorious visions, but He tells us to do the most ordinary things imaginable. Depression tends to turn us away from the everyday things of Elohim’s creation. But whenever Elohim steps in, His inspiration is to do the most natural, simple things-things we would never have imagined Elohim was in, but as we do them we find Him there. The inspiration that comes to us in this way is an initiative against depression. But we must take the first step and do it in the inspiration of Elohim. If, however, we do something simply to overcome our depression, we will only deepen it. But when the Spirit of Elohim leads us instinctively to do something, the moment we do it the depression is gone. As soon as we arise and obey, we enter a higher plane of life.

Yahweh has given us our minds for great things… He allows us to delight in work done for His glory and for the good of mankind…we need always do the best He enables us to do… we are stewards of His creation.

“So Elohim created man in his own image, in the image of Elohim created he him; male and female created he them. And Elohim blessed them, and Elohim said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Gen 1:27-28)

The Seasons remind us of the passing of our lives… and Yahweh gave us the beauty of the fall panorama of colors to exhibit the way that we the Redeemed should see the end of “our seasons”… as we approach our eternal destination… to see Him in all His Glory.

“Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O Elohim, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.” (Ps 71:18)

The Determination to Serve The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve . . . Matthew 20:28 Yeshua also said, "Yet I am among you as the One who serves" (Luke 22:27). Paul’s idea of service was the same as Yahweh‘s— ". . . ourselves your bondservants for Yeshua’ sake" (2 Corinthians 4:5). We somehow have the idea that a person called to the ministry is called to be different and above other people. But according to Yeshua Messiah, he is called to be a "doormat" for others— called to be their spiritual leader, but never their superior. Paul said, "I know how to be abased . . ." (Philippians 4:12). Paul’s idea of service was to pour his life out to the last drop for others. And whether he received praise or blame made no difference. As long as there was one human being who did not know Yeshua, Paul felt a debt of service to that person until he did come to know Him. But the chief motivation behind Paul’s service was not love for others but love for his Master.

If our devotion is to the cause of humanity, we will be quickly defeated and broken-hearted, since we will often be confronted with a great deal of ingratitude from other people. But if we are motivated by our love for Elohim, no amount of ingratitude will be able to hinder us from serving one another. Paul’s understanding of how Messiah had dealt with him is the secret behind his determination to serve others. "I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man . . ." (1 Timothy 1:13). In other words, no matter how badly others may have treated Paul, they could never have treated him with the same degree of spite and hatred with which he had treated Yeshua Messiah. Once we realize that Yeshua has served us even to the depths of our meagerness, our selfishness, and our sin, nothing we encounter from others will be able to exhaust our determination to serve others for His sake.

Do You Now Believe?" By this we believe . . . .’ Yeshua answered them, ’Do you now believe?’ John 16:30-31 Now we believe. . . ." But Yeshua asks, "Do you . . . ? Indeed the hour is coming . . . that you . . . will leave Me alone" (John 16:31-32). Many have left Yeshua Messiah alone and yet tried to serve Him out of a sense of duty, or because they sense a need as a result of their own discernment. The reason for this is actually the absence of the resurrection life of Yeshua. Our soul has gotten out of intimate contact with Elohim by leaning on our own religious understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). This is not deliberate sin and there is no punishment attached to it. But once a person realizes how he has hindered his understanding of Yeshua Messiah and caused uncertainties, sorrows, and difficulties for himself, it is with shame and remorse that he has to return. We need to rely on the resurrection life of Yeshua on a much deeper level than we do now. We should get in the habit of continually seeking His counsel on everything, instead of making our own common sense decisions and then asking Him to bless them. He cannot bless them; it is not in His realm to do so, and those decisions are severed from reality. If we do something simply out of a sense of duty, we are trying to live up to a standard that competes with Yeshua Messiah. We become a prideful, arrogant person, thinking we know what to do in every situation. We have put our sense of duty on the throne of our life, instead of enthroning the resurrection life of Yeshua. We are not told to "walk in the light" of our conscience or in the light of a sense of duty, but to "walk in the light as He is in the light . . ." (1 John 1:7). When we do something out of a sense of duty, it is easy to explain the reasons for our actions to others. But when we do something out of obedience to the Lord, there can be no other explanation-just obedience. That is why a saint can be so easily ridiculed and misunderstood.
