RELEASING THE ENERGY ANDPOTENTIAL OF YOUR PEOPLE TO SOLVE YOUR BUSINESS CHALLENGES

We all have problems we need to solve. How can we continue to grow our business? How can we develop our leaders for where we need our business to be in the future instead of where it is today? How can we revisit our purpose to get a really clear sense of our Direction in order to make the next leap for growth? How can we deliver world-class customer experiences that set us apart from the competition?

Whether your challenges are transforming the customer or employee experience, solving them with a relentless focus on Insights and Innovation will enable you to deliver leading-edge solutions which genuinely solve the problem.

We developed our Insights to Innovation process because we could see that so many leaders and companies were taking a solution-first approach to solving their challenges. Our experience, and the science of Innovation, tells us that this approach does not consistently deliver results. Far better is to start with a deep understanding of the problem you are trying to solve, so that the solution you create is genuinely meeting the needs of your customers, your employees, and the wide set of stakeholders who need to be on-board to deliver the results you need.

LOVEYOUR PROBLEM, NOT JUST YOUR SOLUTION.

A recent study found that 91% of people in organisations want to support innovation, but only 33% feel empowered to do so. This Innovation Empowerment Gap is costing companies millions every year in lost potential solutions. It is often the result of a disconnect between the rhetoric, leadership and culture around innovation; the processes organisations put in place to make innovation happen, and the tools, space, and time organisations give their people to release their energy and potential.

People need four elements to feel able to innovate (see diagram).

We call this ‘The Innovation Ecosystem’ and our Insights to Innovation project will provide this for your team, along with solutions to your business challenges.

EMPOWER YOUR PEOPLE TO INNOVATE.

To deliver solutions to your business challenges, we work with an Insights to Innovation (i2i) Team, guiding them through the Human Centred Design Process. This both cracks your challenge, and creates the four elements of The Innovation Ecosystem for your team.

The experience of the customer or end-user, who experiences the problems you are trying to solve,

is our North Star. We focus on insight gathering to uncover the real problems that need to be solved, ideating using these insights to develop ideas and prototypes that really do solve the problem, and coming full circle to test those ideas with the end-users, to ensure they meet their needs.

INSIGHTSTO INNOVATION.

INSIGHTPutting the end-user

at the heart of the process by engaging with them from the

beginning, to identify their needs.

DEFINEBuilding on the insights

to define the real problem or problems

to be solved into Challenge Areas.

IDEATEApplying the tools of creativity to the insights and the

Challenge Areas, to develop potential

solutions.

PROTOTYPEDeveloping working

prototypes of the ideas, whether

physical, digital or experiential, to test

with end-users.

TESTTesting the ideas,

learning from the tests, and iterating the ideas, to

then implement them.

FORMING YOUR i2i TEAMTo run effective Projects, you need an engaged Insights2Innovation (i2i) team. The i2i team are the Engine behind your innovation project. They will be your innovation experts, working alongside our advisory practitioners to develop innovative solutions to your challenge.

Working through the Human Centred Design process, your i2i Team will:

u Create a clear Direction for their innovation effortsu Build an environment which enables

experimentation, prototyping, and creativity u Understand the Engine of Innovation – Human

Centred Design – and be able to replicate the process in the future

u Be equipped Enablers - the tools and behaviours needed to innovate effectively

WHO SHOULD BE IN YOUR i2i TEAM?

Your i2i Team should be made up of six to eight stakeholders who can influence the scaling of the outcomes of the programme. Depending on your specific challenge, they might be cross-functional or from one team, however, we do recommend forming a group with a mixture of tenure and seniority.

There is no personality type which is better suited than others to working in an i2i Team. The Insights to Innovation Process requires a mixture of perspectives, so the more varied your group the better.

They need to be able to commit to:

uu Join two webinarsuu Take part in one two-day workshopuu Do between four and six hours of project work over the course of the projectuu Taking forward ideas to either scale themselves, or build business cases to share with relevant stakeholders

With the right skills and facilitation, they can channel this insight into powerful creativity, which generates solutions to your business challenges.

If you have a pressing business challenge you need to solve, want to develop an Innovation Ecosystem, or want to create new innovations to delight your customers, it is your people who will make it happen.

Our Innovation Experts have worked on projects as wide ranging as developing a $400m investment vehicle for sustainable energy in Nigeria to articulating the culture of a cocktail bar! They use the same process for both, which puts the customer, employee, end-user, or stakeholder at the heart of the innovation process, to ensure the final idea genuinely delivers what is needed.

THE INNOVATION PROCESS.

If you look at history, innovation doesn’t come just from giving people incentives; it comes from creating environments where their ideas can connect.
