With the arrival of 2019 comes a proud milestone – 70 years in business and still going strong. It all started with our dad’s vision to deliver quality eyewear and outstanding customer service to eyecare professionals. While we have stayed true to our roots, we continue to innovate, enabling us to expand beyond what Fred could have ever imagined.

At ClearVision, we see each new day – and year – as an opportunity to do better. This has become part of our culture which began with Fred’s vision to make each day better for someone else. Our business mindset is continuous improvement, employee engagement and customer experience.

1949 One of the first men to secure an optician’s license in New York state,

21-year-old Navy veteran, Fred Friedfeld, founds ClearVision Optical.

1966 Fred and his wife, Mimi travel to one of France’s

leading factories to produce ClearVision’s first line of

original eyewear designs 1998 ClearVision Optical signs Ocean Pacific

(Op) eyewear.

1994 ClearVision Optical signs licenses with Kenneth Cole New

York and Reaction Kenneth Cole and starts a trend in

entry-level designer eyewear.

1991 ClearVision signs eyewear license with French luxury fashion house, Givenchy.

2004 ClearVision signs BCBGMAXAZRIA, creating a new look in ultra-feminine,

on-trend eyewear.

2012 Dilli Dalli, a revolutionary pediatric collection, launches,

reinforcing ClearVision’s position as an industry leader in the children’s eyewear space.

1980 ClearVision launches its first licensed eyewear brand, named HEAD.

1988 Peter Friedfeld signs the Fisher-Price Eyewear licensing agreement.

1999 ClearVision continues adding to its eyewear collections with renowned

brands like Jessica McClintock and IZOD, which remain in the brand portfolio today.

2007 Cole Haan eyewear launches.

2011 ClearVision launches Marc Ecko Cut & Sew.

2014 CVO Cares – ClearVision’s official philanthropy committee – is formed.

2015 Aspire, a new collection of high performance, ultra-lightweight eyewear launches.

2018 ClearVision wins Best Company to Work for in New York State for the

4th year in a row.

1981/1985 Peter and David Friedfeld join the company full time, and a

new era of ClearVision begins.

1957 Fred transfers the business and the Friedfeld family from

Manhattan toLong Island.
