What a great night we had Saturday night, thank you all for
decorating your homes and donating to this sweet family. We are
still getting donations at the POA office! We raised over
$6,000.00 for the Clancy's. The Bryant High School FCCLA
were perfect elves and the weather could not have been better for
the Trail of Lights! Below is a message we received from the
Clancy family.
Our cup runneth over! Thank you so much to the HLE POA
and all the members for hosting this
event in honor of our Cash. We are so
blessed to be a part of a community that
supports us so much. We greatly
appreciate everyone lighting up for Cash
and all of the donations. It was a great
success thanks to all of your hard work!
Merry Christmas to you all and thanks
again for participating in the Trail of
Lights-Debbie

A Big Thank You to Perfect Places .
Perfect Places planted some trees on Westminster for us last fall. We lost a couple during the year. The dead trees were cut down and the owner of Perfect Places said he would replace the lost trees at no cost to us. I am delighted to report that last month Perfect Places completed the effort without us even having to place a call. They removed the old trees and replaced them with new trees that seem even larger than the ones originally planted. It is rare when a firm meets all expectations of a job. Danny Townsend and his team at Perfect Places
exceeded all of our expectations.

Important POA updates During the Board of Director’s fall planning sessions for 2015, the Board took into consideration the requests of our
members for additional future capital improvements.
Key 2015 expense drivers considered:
Keep Springhill Gate Functional
Once again begin to build the funds for future Capital Improvements
Cover increased yearly expenses
The final component the board of directors reviewed was the POA dues. Every penny and every dollar matters in a
nonprofit organization, which is the business classification for our POA. The last increase in dues was in 2008, some 7
years ago. At the end of the day, the Board felt that to continue making progress on the capital side as we have in the
past, dues for 2015 needed to be increased.
The following increases will begin January 1, 2015
DUES
Regular dues - $48.00 monthly / $576.00 annually
Phase 5 - $70.00 monthly / $840.00 annually
Westshore / Phase 6 - $72.00 monthly / $864.00 annually
REMOTES
Remotes - $50.00 each
LATE FEES
Monthly Late fee - $12.00
Also, beginning January 1, 2015 the Ripples will be sent via email only so please make sure the POA office has your
current email address on file. We will not be mailing the Ripples, but if you do not have email you can stop by the
POA office and we will gladly print you a copy.

b. Dennis Edwards – Discuss Lake Committee budget requests. Rod Kirk gave the Board some information on clear-ing of the dam. He said that Michael Rogers has looked at the work needed to be done on clearing the wooded growth on the dam. Rod Kirk feels that Michael Rogers should seek the advice of an engineer at the start of clear-ing off the wooded growth on the dam area. Rod said that he would work with an engineer from the state free of charge on this project. Rod Kirk asked the Board if they would look into the issue with the lights on the volley ball court/beach area. He is saying that the lights are bright and asked if the Board would look into the matter. Dennis Edwards asked if the Board had any questions on the Lake Committee budget. The Board members did not have any questions on the Lake Committee budget. Dennis Edwards asked if the Board would look at getting the valves on the dam checked out. Bobby Arnold says he would like to meet with Michael Rogers about information on the valves. The Lake Committee asked if the Board has any new information from Michael Rogers about the drawdown of the lake during the year 2015. The Lake Committee has asked that the Board share any information provided by Michael Rogers on the lake drawdown with them. The Lake Committee wants to know the beginning date for the drawdown as well as the depths of the water level during the drawdown. The Board and Lake Committee talked about the start of the drawdown during August of 2015 and filling the lake up in late January of 2016. Drawdown depths are anticipated to be 6 to 8 feet.

To All HLE Residents,
We are truly happy there are so many property owners and
residents that truly care about our community. We do want to hear
everyone's concerns and ideas, but it must be done in calm and
organized setting.
You must be on the agenda to speak at a board meeting. Each
person will have a limit of 5 minutes to discuss their topic. If you
have multiple people speaking on the same topic, please have your
thoughts organized so we do not have the same question asked
multiple times.
Our board meetings are held the third Monday of each month at 6
pm in the clubhouse. To be on the agenda you must call (653-3100)
or email ([email protected]) your name and the question or
topic you wish to discuss to the POA office by the second Thursday
of the month by 4 pm. If you are not on the agenda, you will not be
allowed to take the floor.
The board is always at your service if you have concerns or
questions, you can find our email addresses on the front page of the
Ripples. Thank you for giving us the honor to represent Hurricane
Lake Estates. We, like you, only want the best for our community
and know that working together Hurricane Lake Estates will
continue to be a beautiful place to call home.
Thank you,
HLE Board of Directors
