Wow, what a whirl wind year it waswe are now in 2018, hopefully you all had the opportunity to spend me with family and friends through the holidays. Now that you have had a chance to relax and reflect on your successes of 2017, it is me to start making those goals for the New Year. Yes that is right, me to get busy planning 2018 and creang opportunity for even more success in the New Year! 4-H has some fun and educaonal acvies that are just around the corner. High Desert Leadership Retreat will take place this month where youth parcipants will have a chance to meet new friends while learning leadership skills. This annual event that takes place over Marn Luther King Jr. weekend. Youth that signed up will be receiving an email from me this week with important informaon so make sure you look at your email. Another event that is coming up and will be here sooner than later is Camp Tumbleweed. This is our annual camp for 4-6 grade youth. This year we had to make some changes to camp due to some contract issues. We are excited to announce that we moved to Camp Tadmor near Sweet Home. Stay tuned for more informaon soon. Congratulaons to all the award winners for their accomplishments throughout the year. With the state volleyball tournament going on at the same me as recognion night we were leſt with many record books and awards that sll need picked up. If you have not picked up your book please do so soon it will help us get organized for the New Year. There are also awards that need picked up as well make sure you look through the newsleer to see if you are one that needs to stop by. I want to thank everyone for helping with recognion night it was a success. A huge thank you to Joe Davis and Black Bear Diner, I also want to thank RAPA for allowing us to have the event at their locaon. We would not be able to do the things we do without all the support from our local businesses. As we begin 2018, I want to thank all of the individuals that make Jefferson County 4-H ck month to month. A big thank you to the Jefferson County 4-H board members for helping keep us on track each month, by paying the bills and supporng the fund raising efforts throughout the year. Also, to our club leaders that make sure the youth in the program are receiving the informaon they need to be successful throughout the year. Jefferson County 4-H is a great program because of the countless hours and shared experse of all of our volunteers and I want to thank you all for a great 2017. Just a quick reminder for those re-enrolling (returning members) in 4-H the deadline is quickly approaching. All enrollments are online this year and need to be processed no later than January 15, 2018. If you have quesons about online enrollment and payment please call the office. ****(Please refer to page 2 for very important enrollment informaon.) 4-H has some fun and educational activities that are just around the corner. VERY IMPORTANT ENROLLMENT INFORMATION:

When returning members enroll for 4-H they need to use the following information:

Enrollment is a two step process. First: Re-Enrolling through 4HOnline (For returning Jefferson County 4-H members and fami-lies) Second, the following is the link for payment of 4-H dues/fee: http://bit.ly/Jefferson4HDues New (first year members) please call the office for club and enrollment information.

Please remember to pick up your record book and any awards at the office!

Meeting Room Available: As a way of giving back to the community, Washington Federal Bank is offering

the use of their conference room, at no charge. The room, has a kitchenette (including a refrigerator, sink and microwave) and is available during the day and

evening--seats between 20 to 30 people. To schedule a meeting time call the office at (541) 475-5339. The address is 910 SW Hwy 97, Ste. 204 in Madras.

Check the Club Mailbox:

The office has a “mailbox” with files that has mail for the clubs. This mailbox will be taken to committee meetings each month If you have correspondence for the office you

can drop it off at committee meetings.

Monday—Friday 8 a.m.—4 p.m.

make arrangements”.

Scholarships Available: Many people may not know that the Jefferson County 4-H Association has an endowment fund. This fund is set up to provide scholarships for youth and volunteers. These scholarships may be given for enrollment, to

attend a 4-H leadership retreat, 4-H camps, OSU Summer Conference, special trainings, and continuing education. The endowment committee members meet to discuss the fund and make decisions. If you are

interested in donating to the Endowment Fund, please contact the office or send a check to: Jefferson County 4-H Association, 850 NW Dogwood Lane, Madras, Oregon 97741.

Checks should written to: Jefferson County 4-H Association and please indicate on the check that the donation is for the Endowment Fund.

Any amount would be appreciated. Thank you!

If you need to drop something by the office after hours, there is a mailbox

on the south end of the office that you are welcome to drop things off.

Origami Class There will be an origami class held on Saturday, March 10, in the conference room at COARC. This class will be taught by Marilee Gerke. There is limited space, so sign up will be on a first come first served basis. You will need to email Jill Eveland at: [email protected] to sign up. Origami is the art of paper folding, which is often associated with Japanese culture. In modern usage, the word "origami" is used as an inclusive term for all folding practices, regardless of their culture of origin (Wikipedia)
