“A New Story For Down Syndrome”
Many of you have probably read or heard about
Heath White and the letter he wrote to his
daughter, Paisley with Down syndrome.
Amy Julia Becker is a blogger and also wrote a
powerful story titled “A New Story For Down
Syndrome”.
Amy closes with the statement that it took her
nearly a year to unreservedly celebrate the life
that was given to her in her daughter, Penny.
Seven years later, she says she is grateful that
her grief turned to joy. And she hopes that her
story, like Heath White’s and thousand of others
like us, might be part of writing a story for
parents of children with Down syndrome, a story
in which hope replaces grief as the first chapter.
You can catch Amy’s blog at the link below. It is
empowering and so very true. Our children need
to be celebrated for what they bring into our
lives.
