During his 40 years as chief appellate lawyer, he had over 500 briefings resulting in published opinions. Sonny (Ernest) Longtine ‘62 BS, ‘67 MA of Marquette is the author of three books: Marquette Then and Now; Michigan’s Upper Peninsula: Life, Legends and Landmarks; and the latest, Courage Burning. Jane Piirto ‘63 BS of Ashland, Ohio, has been awarded the life- time achievement award from the Mensa Education and Research Foundation.
