She was invited to the Lion’s mid-winter con- vention to attend the Governors banquet and awards ceremony where she received a trophy and certificate from the Ste. Anne Lions and a cheque for $100 US from the District. After a lengthy career in politics, Dawson Trail MLA Ron Lemieux says he will not re-run in the April 19 Provincial Election. According to news reports, Lemieux had a bit of a health scare while vacationing in Arizona which led to him re-evaluating his life. He has decided to spend more time focusing on his family. He is the last veteran MLA to drop out of running, and while he did hint before that previous departures of his colleagues will influence his decision, his reasoning’s now are focused on family. Lemieux has not only served as the local MLA since 1999 when he defeated former PC MLA Ben Sveinson, but has held various cabinet posts under both former Premier Gary Doer and current Premier Greg Selinger. The local Ste. Anne food bank, the Accueil Kateri Centre, recently hada visit from the Ste. Anne Lions Club where they were presented with adonation of $1,300 raised through a recent fundraiser evening of coffeeand entertainment. The visit was very informational as the Lion member also discoveredhow the centre’s process works. The center currently helps 28 local families with a food hamper everytwo weeks. The center is located at 132 Centrale Ave with the entrance just be-hind the Knights of Columbus Hall. If you find yourself in need of a little extra food at any time, registrationis easy. You can reach the centre at 204-371-4984. The centre is openevery other Wednesday between 2 pm and 4 pm. If you would like to help out with a food donation there are donationbins located at Ste. Anne Builders Supply, Ste. Anne Groceries, Ste.Anne Catholic Church, Ste. Anne Dayspring Fellowship Church andBurnell’s Food Plus in Richer.
