On December 20th, the Ste. Anne Sports and Recreation DirectorCarolyn Cameron organized a fantastic skate with Santa evening forlocal families. There where crafts for the kids where they made magicreindeer treats with instructions for the kids to put out to feed Santa'sreindeer on Christmas Eve. They also wrote letters to Santa and latergave their notes to Santa while they had their pictures taken. They alsoenjoyed time with Santa on the ice making this a very memorable eventfor years to come. Approximately 80 people came out to take part inthis festive event at the arena.

The Ste. Anne Lions Club and the seniors from the Villa and PlaceSte. Anne hosted their third annual Christmas Lights bus tour this yearwhere guests had the opportunity to judge the Christmas Light Compe-tition. After spending an hour touring the town and viewing all thewonderful Christmas lights, the group was invited to enjoy hot choco-late, desserts, and pictures with Santa, Mrs. Claus and a couple of sillyelfs before making their decision as to which house would be this year’swinner.

By Cathy Roy A local facebook group calledThe Rural Free Bin has put smileson people's faces this past Christ-mas. The group, run by volunteeradmins, put together 104 surprisebags helping 22 families in theSoutheast. "Giving to others is my passion,"says Rhonda Funk, one of theadmins who started the group. Thestockings were made possible by thegenerous donations of new and gen-tly used items from businesses andRural Free Bin members. The admins organized a coffeeand dainties day on December 12thfor families to come and drop inwhile picking up their items.

Book Sale Showing Christmas Spirit in Ste. Anne

Ste. Anne Police officers responded to a report of a driver of a Zambonidisplaying "erratic behavior" December 19 at the Sainte-Anne Arenabetween the second and third periods of the Bantam hockey game.The game was between the Seine River Snipers and the Southeast Bliz-zard. Martin Kintscher, manager for one of the teams, said the Zamboniwas damaging the rink. "On his first lap he struck the gate where theZamboni drives onto the ice, and broke the boards and also brokepieces off the actual Zamboni. One piece got stuck under the Zamboni,which left a ridge on the ice with every lap." The game was called due to the rough ice conditions and the thirdperiod was continued on December 21. The operator was uncooperative during arrest and refused abreathalyzer test. The driver was arrested on charges with impaireddriving, refusing to provide a breath sample and resisting arrest.
