Sphere Flow and Barred Tees

iNPIPE PRODUCTSTM sphere flow tees and barred tees are designed to order and manufactured to all international codes, including ASME VIII, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 and BS 5500. Each tee is built in accordance with the client specified design code including radiography and stress relieving if required. Tees are available in a full range of sizes up to 56” and ANSI CLASS 2500 rating. Flow and barred tees can be provided with either flanged ends or complete with weld preparation or can be fitted with extended pup-pieces as required.

The design of tees is an important factor when considering the type of pigs or spheres that will be run in the pipeline. It is important to ensure the constant passage of cup pigs, bi-directional pigs, foam pigs and spheres within the pipeline and pig traps. Barred tees are the preferred design with regard to pigging systems and sphere tees the preferred arrangement for spheres as the sealing of the sphere to

the pipe wall is narrow and should be fitted at any off-take with a side branch of more than 25% of the line size. Sphere tees ensure that the sphere traverses branch connection smoothly and ensure:

• That the sphere does not stall or hang up in the branch connection

• That the sphere does not become deflected or wedged up the branch

• That whatever the flow rate through a pipeline the sphere will pass the branch connection without stopping

• That product is allowed to flow through/into and out of the offtake through the slots around the inner sleeve

• That the internal bore of the tee is the same as that of the pipeline

• Sphere tees are available with weld preparation ends and/or flanged ends

• Depending on application weld caps or forged rings are incorporated into the tee design

• Sphere tees can be designed and manufactured to most oil and gas industry recognised piping or pressure vessel codes

• Materials of construction can be carbon steel, stainless steel or exotic materials necessary to meet the most stringent requirements

• All welding is subject to NDT and stress relieving is carried out where applicable

iNPIPE PRODUCTSTM Barred tees can also be designed and manufactured to the same international codes and standards. It is recommended that barred tees are fitted where the branch diameter is above 70% of the main pipeline diameter.We offer a full range of materials from standard carbon steels, stainless steel to more exotic alloys such as Duplex and Inconel, solid or overlay.
