Europe needsinnovative water-technologies

One of the most important challenges Europe faces is its water challenge, threatening sustainable development and economic growth and having large effects on health issues. Europe has most instruments in place to address these challenges, but their effective adoption is lacking.

This fact also holds true for the need to implement innovative technologies. Technologies are available and much needed, potentially reducing Europe’s water consumption by over 40%, but their adoption is limited due to large barriers for these technologies to reach the market, including:

Inability of innovative smEs to commercialise innovation - lack of knowledge and expertise on market transition of innovative technologies;

lack of awareness of the water challenge and potential solutions in water-consuming companies;

lack of cooperation between innovative SMEs and potential first users.

INNOWATER – providing better tools to address these barriers

The INNOWATER partnership will develop, test and adapt the most promising existing tools to address these barriers, targeted at technology innovators, water-consuming industries, innovation consultancies and public innovation support schemes.
