FETTE’s factory in Schwarzenbek After specializing in the development and manufacture of milling tools ever since 1908, FETTE took thedecision to start developing tableting machines in 1948. It moved its whole operation to the town ofSchwarzenbek near Hamburg in 1953. It is from there that it serves and supplies its customers everywherein the world through a network of subsidiaries and more than 50 agents. The company’s Tableting MachineDivision was reorganized in 2001 and now communicates under the name FETTE COMPACTING.

The wide availability of modern communication techniques and sophisticated procedures like teleserviceand remote maintenance nowadays make geographical location much less important for internationallyactive companies like FETTE.

But geographical location is important in another respect. Over the 50 years that we have been developing,designing and manufacturing tableting machines, a highly qualified and dedicated group of specialists pos-sessing unique knowhow has settled in the region around our central location. A similar concentration ofexperienced, forward-looking engineers, technicians, skilled craftsmen and qualified office staff would bedifficult to find anywhere else in the world.

Control panelThe control panel makes thetableting machine safe and simple to operate. It has a touchscreen monitor on which pro-duction data can be entered oramended. An integrated printercreates production reports.

PKB 3 compressionchamber spray-coatingsystemThis system sprays an accurate-ly metered dose of stearate insi-de the compression chamber toprevent adhesion of product topunches when working withadhesive granules or producingtablets with delicate surfaces.

GRATEX dedustingsystemThe GRATEX system removesburrs effectively and reliably.The tablets are channeledthrough a screening drum thatremoves burrs without damagingthe tablets.

FETTE’s practice of working closely together with the usersand its consequent intimate knowledge of production pro-cesses are a key factor.

It has enabled FETTE to spearhead a number of develop-ments that have been crucial for the achievement of thehigh standards now applying in modern, global tablet manu-facture. These developments are notable for two reasons:– strict adherence to GMP principles and regular ability topass validation tests– constant increases in productivity from automation andease of integration into production lines.

FETTE’s introduction of interchangeable turrets more thanten years ago was a milestone in the quest for increased pro-ductivity when changing products.

The incorporation of washing systems in all types of presseswas another big leap forward, especially when toxic sub-stances and products creating severe dust problems areinvolved.

By working closely together with highly competent suppliers, FETTE is able to supply all the necessary accesso-ries direct - in the machines themselves, in the immediatetableting environment and in the preliminary and finishingprocesses. All manufactured to extremely high standards ofprecision and reliability.

Vertical deduster/WiPEffective dedusting during tableting is an important GMPrequirement. The system notonly removes dust but alsomoves tablets vertically. The WiPsystem can be fitted to all WiPpresses and washes itself simul-taneously with the machine.

WEIGHTMASTER 4.1 tablet weighterThe WEIGHTMASTER performsautomatic in-process control oftablet weight. This is an econo-mical alternative in cases wherethere is no need to check theother parameters.

LOADING CENTER drum filling systemThe LOADING CENTER has 6hoppers for production runs in-volving large batches and provi-des optimal capacity for FETTE’shigh-performance tabletingmachines. An integrated weigh-ing system controls the filling.

HAMO washing centerThe HAMO washing machineensures thorough cleaning of thedismantled machine parts priorto a product change. A speciallydesigned pattern of jets spraysdown the parts to remove allresidues. The parts are then fullydried by a heating system.

Tableting toolsTableting tools and machinesfrom a single source. This meansthat everything is compatibleand forms the ideal basis foruninterrupted, trouble-free pro-duction runs. FETTE has morethan 50 years of experience toprove this.

WiP CENTER washing systemThis system is directly connec-ted to the WiP machines and hasvarious wash programs as wellas delivering the water for thewhole washing and rinsing pro-cess and hot air for the dryingprocess.

CHECKMASTER 4.1 tablet monitoringAutomated in-process control isa must in batch manufacturingof tablets. The CHECKMASTERtakes samples without interrup-ting production, tests for weight,hardness and thickness and pro-duces a report listing the results.

Turret handling trolleyEach turret handling trolley isspecially designed for a specificmachine type and turret size. Itpicks up, transports and setsdown the turret (in some casesautomatically) and makes iteasier to work on the turrets.

Parts butlerOur parts butlers are carefullydesigned to stre those partswhich have to be removed fromthe individual types of machinefor cleaning. By enabling opera-tors to keep all the parts underreview at all times, they help toeliminate errors during handling.
