INAPRO Consortium
WATER INNOVATION IN ACTION – 24.01.2014 – Brussels
Page 3
Combining fish and vegetable production (Aquaponic system)
The water cycle is expected to be closed, wastewater effluents to be reduced, energy efficiency to be enhanced, nutrients to be recovered and CO2 emissions to be lowered
INAPRO-system will be modular and scalable, therefore adaptable to local conditions
Test and validation under different conditions by 9 demo-objects
Strengthen standardization of products, processes and management systems in this field
Breakthrough for these systems towards commercialization
Mobilise industry, member states and stakeholders into promoting INAPRO
Improve market access for EU industry and SMEs
Project objectives and ideas of INAPRO

INAPRO- Demo objects- rural areas
Main parameters
 total size ca. 600 m²
housing 200 m² fish farm building + 400 m² vegetables greenhouse - connected
 15-20 m³ fish tank volume: 10 t fish; 10-12 t tomatoes
max. daily food amount:< 40 kg
water consumption: less than 1% of system volume/ day(instead of 20% in conventional aquaponic systems)

INAPRO as a “seed project” for follow- up activities
 SENSORFISH, FP7-PEOPLE, European-Chinese-American consortium, 2012-2015
Competence centre ‘aquaculture’ – submitted, ERDF + regional, Germany, 2014-
Algae production as alternative PUFA enriched food source: H2020; SFS-8-2014/2015, coop. Univ. Murcia, div. SME preparation started
Integrated approaches to food security, low-carbon energy, sustainable water management and climate change mitigation: H2020-WATER-2b-2015, coop. Univ. Kaposvar, preparation started
Cooperation with the European Innovation Partnership on Water
The project consortium will join and contribute to the EIP - Action Group “Industrial Water Re-use and Recycling” – first contacts made, member in the PAC
Cooperation with projects of “WATER INNOVATION IN ACTION”
First exchange of ideas with Dr. Boris Lesjean (KWB) from DEMOWARE project
Interest in cooperation with R3Water – usage of alternative energy and water sources
