Introduction

This newly developed clip-on gasket programme is extremely easy to mount and provides a solid mechanical attachment of the EMI shielding gasket. The gaskets can be assembled without the need of tools, simply by pressing the section by hand onto the metal flange of your enclosure without the use of any adhesive’s. The clamp mounted feature results in superb shielding performance, no degradation of shielding effect overtime and tremendous cost savings on production lines.

The clip-on range comes in three flavors:• Type W series

(Clip-on shielding gasket with water seal• Type F series

(Fully wrapped EMI shielding gasket)• Type H series

(For heavy duty applications)

Shielding performance

Our proven conductive textile provides over 96dB of broadband noise attenuation that is crucial for mid to high range shielding applications. For tough environmental applications, we recommend half-wrapped parts (Type W), however full-wrapped profiles are also available for specific applications (Type F). When high shielding demands are made in the low-frequency area we recommend to use Type H. Shielding effectiveness depends on surface, shape of gaskets and materials used.

Temperature resistance

An EPDM core with an operating temperature up to 100 deg. C and good resistance to UV, water, acids make the clip-on shielding gaskets the right choice for outdoor applications.

Applications

Special shapes and materials excel in dynamic or high cycling applications such as Faraday cage doors or access panels with low compression rates and very limited compression set.

Note: Gasket geometry and application determine the actual shielding effectiveness

Available types

Type F (Fully wrapped EMI shielding gasket)

The type-F clip-on gasket series has been specially designed to provide both EMI shielding and electrical conductivity. The conductive textile is fully wrapped around the gasket, resulting in higher shielding performance than the type-W (half wrapped version) only at the expense of water resistance.

Type W (Clip-on shielding gasket with water seal)

The type W clip-on gasket series has been specially designed to provide environmental (water) sealing as well as EMI shielding for outdoor electronics and telecom cabinet manufacturers. The conductive textile is half wrapped around the gasket, dividing the gasket in two parts, a part for electrical conductance / EMI shielding (made of highly conductive textile), and a part for water sealing. The half wrapped conductive textile provides over 96dB of broadband noise attenuation that is crucial for mid to high range shielding applications.

Type H (For heavy duty applications)

The type H clip-on gasket series has been specially designed for heavy duty applications and provides in addition EMI shielding also low frequency magnetic shielding. The type H series is covered with a high conductive metal cladding, the metal cladding is outdoor proof and suited for harsh environments making it suitable for military, medical and all other applications were high demands are made to the EMI shielding in the magnetic low-frequency area.

This combination of materials decreases the number of gaskets needed per cabinet. This makes the sealing section a economic solution for application where an environmental seal as well as EMI shielding is needed.
