INNOVATIONS IN BURGLAR ALARMS: HOME SECURITY is a field, mostly neglected by engineers who are driven by more complex circuits and larger scale applications. But home security can never be neglected. In this paper the basics of a burglar alarm are discussed with the complete information gathered (right from its basic design concepts). Then a basic circuit of burglar alarm that uses IC1 NE556 is discussed in brief and then the errors in the circuit have been highlighted. Then the different ways of their rectification has been included. Then an improved form of a burglar alarm which uses CMOS 4011 has been discussed right from its components required, followed by a very detailed description of the working of this rectified and improved circuit. But no one can be 100% right. So, even this circuit does have its share of defects and again the defects have been rectified to some extent. But the rule of science is that a perfect circuit never stays so for long, because the very next day someone can point out to a mistake that had been neglected so far. But as the mistakes are being pointed out and rectifications are being made the ultimate result is: a far well developed circuit which is more reliable. But all that one has to understand is HOME SECURITY is a field full of scope for engineers.
