hummingbird, which is the most

Celebrating O.W.L.E.T.S Carnival
– A Skee Ball Booth (Fund Raising Event)
Adopting the Problem-based learning approach, the team
designed a skee ball booth to set up as part of the annual
school carnival. The team contributed to the funds that that was
donated to the Sree Narayana Mission Home.

Celebrating O.W.L.E.T.S Carnival
Minion Bowling Booth (Fund Raising Event)
As part of Project Work, the team designed a Minion Bowling
booth for the Celebrating OWLETS carnival in 2016. Together
with other booths, they contributed to the total amount of
$10,082.70 that was donated to Sree Narayana Mission
Home last year.

Using the Design Thinking Skills and various other thinking skills the
team designed activities for the Jali Screen Gallery in the Asian Civilizations
Museum. Their project allowed the P3 pupils and their parents to not only
learn more about Jali Screens, but also to bond together while
appreciating art in the museum.

Through a collaboration with HDB, the team planned and conducted
various engaging activities for our residents living around our school to
promote good neighbourliness among the residents.

Intergenerational Learning Programme
Having Fun with Ceramics
Intergenerational Learning Programme (ILP) is part of our school’s Lifelong
Learning Programme, WHIZZ. Using thinking tools such as fishbone diagram
and criteria setting, the team conceptualised and conducted a 4-session
Ceramics Making activity to help foster stronger bond between the elderly
and the young.

Happy Hearts, Happy Elderly
The team interviewed the elderly to find out the areas of concerns that they have and
developed innovative and useful solutions with empathy as the centre of their design.
They carried out meaningful activities for the elderly at the 2017 Kampung Wellness
event.

K2 Outreach – Stay Safe, Not Sorry
The team designed an outreach programme for the Kindergarten pupils who
visited the school. They gave them a presentation to educate them about
cyberwellness. After that, the kindergarten children played a simple game to
demonstrate their understanding of what they had learnt from the
presentation.

The team embarked on a research task to find out the best ways to educate visitors of Jurong Bird Park about the conservation of birds.
The pupils conducted research into understanding the current situation and the needs and concern of the people. With all the information, they came up with an idea of having a Bird Show just focused on bird conservation.

The Right Type of Food
The team embarked on an experimental task to find out the right
type of feed for birds with different types of beaks.
They found out information by conducting research and surveys.
They designed and conducted experiments. In the end, they were
successfully able link the kind of beaks the birds have to the kind
of food they eat.

A Healthier Me, A Healthier CommunityParents were shocked to find out that excessive use of
touchscreen devices like I-Pads and smartphones can hamper
a child‘s development and lead to many harmful effects. The
team designed a safe, low-cost educational ping pong toy
game for children to play with.

Wheel of FortuneAdopting the Problem-based learning approach, the team was
tasked by the school to decide what they would like to have at
their class booth as part of the annual school carnival fund
raising activity.
The team designed a game booth called “Wheel of Fortune” It
attracted many people and the funds collected from the booths
was donated to the Rainbow Centre.

The team made use of the various decision-making tools and thinking skills that were
taught to come up with an interesting game for the school carnival. The pupils conduct
ed surveys and did research to find out what type of games people liked to play at a
carnival. The game they created was not only fun, but tested the everyone’s skill and
resilience!

Toy Car Challenge
Throughout the 2 weeks of project work, the team planned and set-up a
booth for the school’s annual Celebrating O.w.l.e.t.s. Carnival. Their game
idea was to use motor- skills to manoeuvre a toy car through obstacles. The
game booth was a success!

ACM Enchanting Experience – Tang Shipwreck
The Primary 5 PW team was assigned to the Tang Shipwreck Gallery in the
Asian Civilizations Museum. They designed gallery activities for their
audience to learn more about Tang ship, its cargoes and most importantly
create time for the parents and children to bond together while appreciating
science through history in the museum.

ACM Enchanting Experience – Indian Textiles
The team were given the task to educate both parents and pupils about
Indian Textiles based on the “Hanging Cotton Cloth” display at ACM. After
their research, they came up with interesting activities that not only taught the
audience more about Indian Textiles but also engaged them thoroughly. The
audience was given an opportunity to show their creativity by designing
patterns on cotton cloths.
