As you will see when we discuss contemporary theatre and dance that pushes againstconventional expectations, InLove is part of a movement to perform in places not originallyintended for performance. The project also experimented with including hand-held technology inthe performance.

What was your experience of eing a moving audience memer rather than a static one! "id the

location#s$ in which the performance occurred effect your perception of the performance! Werethere any moments, performances, or images that stood out to you! If so, descrie and say waythey are memorale.

While you are y no means re%uired to have li&ed the performance, I'll just remind you that thisis a pulic forum not an anonymous evaluation, so you should choose your words as carefully asif you were spea&ing in class.

(oing to InLove was one of the strangest, most enjoyale experiences Ive everhad with theatre. When we got there, no one was %uite sure what to expect. (etting texts, findingnotes/ it was all pretty weird. And then I rememer we were loo&ing down at the second levelin the dome and everyone was singing, and I thought, 01eah. I can get into this.0 I had no ideawhat was going on, and I didnt really &now anyone and there was just this eautiful music and itwas perfect. Li&e a dream. Also, as weird as a dream. 2trange things would come and go withlittle explanation.

Li&e, we got a note that there were no true lovers in the forest and then we wentand heard aout a love story that apparently really happened. 2o that was odd. 3ut then we werelistening to people tal& aout nomads and there was the first dance se%uence and it was eautiful.

I proaly will say that word a lot. As well as dream. 3ecause it felt li&e a dream. 4ere is awhole crowd of people, each listening to the same thing individually while people just flowaround us. The sense of sacredness was enhanced y the atypical performance space. There wereall these other people just chilling and totally not involved in this performance. It was li&emoving inside of our own world. The special world and the ordinary world were on top of eachother. It was li&e floating in a ule. I dont &now how that enhanced this performancespecifically as a reinterpretation of As 1ou Li&e It, ut it was really cool.

5oving around was a it odd. It really helped with that 0magical ule oftheatre0 thing that was going on, ut at first everyone just &inda stood around li&e, 0whut.0 Theperformers had to really coax us to move around with them. 6ventually a &ind of alance wasfound and we followed more easily, ut it too& a while to get set up. There was much smiling, nodding, and finger wagging efore we were comfortale just wal&ing around with them. 3ut Ili&ed that they never actually spo&e to move us. It was that much more surreal and magical.

To me, the two scenes that stood out most were the 0my ody is a cage0 se%uencewhere we watched her dance while our guides painted their toenails and then yelled at her andthe part in the media center. I thin& the sheer oddness of that stood out to me. I really really haveno clue why anyone would paint their toenails then put soc&s ac& on over it. And major props toher for running in her undies through a lirary that wasnt actually closed. The media center part

stuc& out cause it was the first time we were addressed. And not just addressed, ut addressed yname. That was pretty awesome and totally unexpected. And then eing dragged into the roomindividually to run lines with a dancer! It was odd and surprisingly sensual. 7ot even really in asexual way, ut in a sacred, sort of holy sense. Li&e wed found a tiny piece of something muchigger and more eautiful.

That was sort of the entire performance for me, actually. Tiny pieces of a larger, more eautifuland rather incomprehensile whole. I li&ed it ut I would ma&e no claim that I understood it. Iwould watch it again for sure though. 8referaly with the commentary trac& on
