Prepoznati smopo irokoj lepezi turistikih proizvoda za turiste svihnivoa platene moi, a promocija i pozicioniranjeCrne Gore kao interesantne turistike destinacije kojaje atraktivna na meunarodnom tritu tokom cijelegodine i svojom raznolikou prilagodljiva dinaminimtrendovima svjetskog trita je i na cilj. A ako seimaju u vidu i potencijali ija turistika valorizacija tekpredstoji, Crna Gora je zaslueno i top destinacijapo brzini razvoja sektora turizma u ovoj godini, alii u narednom desetogodinjem periodu, kako je inavedeno u posljednjem izvjetaju Svjetskog savjetaza putovanja i turizam.

    Iako je jasno da crnogorska turistika ponudaodavno nije za ljude manje platene moi, vepoprilino nedostupan dragulj i za njene graane,i dalje se mogu uti razliite ocjene o pravcurazvoja turizma, pa imate i dalje zastupnikeelitnog, masovnog ili tzv. resort turizma. ta je,po Vama, najoptimalnija varijanta?

    Naa nastojanja su da, slijedei strateki cilj razvojaturizma, Crna Gora bude prepoznata kao cjelogodinjaturistika destinacija. U tom cilju realizuju se brojne

    aktivnosti na planu stvaranja diverzifikovane ponude,sa naglaskom na unapreenje nivoa kvaliteta.Svakako smo zadovoljni projektima za razvojavanturistkog turizma i turizma orjentisanog na

    prirodu koji se nastavljaju i ove godine, i to prije

    svega Planinarenje i biciklizam, zatim VrhoviBalkana koji ima za cilj turistiki razvoj planinskogpodruja na tromei Crne Gore, Albanije i Kosova,Panoramski putevi Crne Gore ija je svrhapovezivanja turistike ponude Primorja i Sjevera,kao i Etnogastronomske staze. Posebnuatraktivnost predstavljaju i ponude koje se odnosena kite surfing, rafting, kanjoning i dr.Takoe, znaajne aktivnosti turistikih poslenikausmjerene su i ka unapreenju manifestacionogi kongresnog segmenta turistike ponude. UCrnoj Gori se, u periodu od maja do septembra2014. godine, organizuje 17 muzikih festivalameunarodnog i regionalnog karaktera, a posebnoatraktivno, naroito za mlau populaciju, bilo jeodravanje Exit festivala, na plai Jaz, u Budvi, ujulu 2014. godine, uz organizovanje brojnih, sada vei tradicionalnih, karnevala i kulturnih manifestacija.Znaajan segment ponude ine i ponude nacionalnihparkova, a intenzivno se sprovode aktivnostiusmjerene ka razvoju onog segmenta ponude kojise odnosi, izmeu ostalog, i na marine i golf terene.U tom smislu, Porto Montenegro u Tivtu, ve jeprepoznata kao jedna od vodeih marina za jahtena Mediteranu, gdje su uslovi za smjetaj plovila na

    izuzetno visokom nivou. Osim toga, u okviru PortoMontenegra nalazi se luksuzno naselje, koje svojomponudom zadovoljava potrebe vrlo probirljivihturista, vrlo visoke platene moi. U prilog tomegovori i injenica, da iz godine u godinu, sve veibroj pripadnika svjetskog jet seta, boravi upravo uPorto Montenegru, gdje imaju prilku da uivaju ubazenu, restoranima i barovima, a mogu pronai ibrojne ponude razliitih, svjetski renomiranih modnihbrendova.     upotpunjuje uz zapaeno poveanje kvaliteta usluge.Ve pomenute kampanje, akcije i projekti, imaju za cilj iproduenje sezone.Dalje unapreenje MICE segmenta nae ponude,posredstvom kojeg je Crna Gora ve prepoznatakao destinacija pogodna za organizovanje struno-tematskih okupljanja, zabavnih, kulturnih, sportskih islinih dogaanja, bie obezbijeeno kroz stimulativniprogram podrke organizatorima tradicionalnih i novihmanifestacija i skupova iji koncept ima predmetnismisao, a koje e se odravati u periodu od oktobrado decembra. U tom pravcu Ministarstvo odrivog

    razvoja i turizma objavilo je Javni poziv za pruanjepodrke i dodjele bespovratnih novanih sredstavaza sufinansiranje organizovanja tematskih skupova,kulturnih, zabavnih, gastronomskih, sportskih i drugihmanifestacija. Da su aktivnosti koje preduzimamo naplanu produenja sezone urodile plodom, ukazuje iinjenica da je jedna od karakteristika sezone 2013.godine bila i ta da je tokom pred i post sezone zabiljeenoznaajno poveanje broja gostiju, tj. od aprila biljeio sesve vei broj turista i realizovanih noenja, a posjeenostje bila znaajna i u periodu nakon glavne sezone. Samotokom oktobra 2013. godine, Crnu Goru posjetilo je vieod 45 hiljada turista i ostvareno je vie od 185 hiljadanoenja, to je poveanje za 21,2%, odnosno za 30,3%u odnosu na isti mjesec 2012. godine.

    Osim toga, sa nama bitnih emitivnih trita i dalje velikibroj gostiju boravi u Crnoj Gori, dok je znaajna posjetazabiljeena i sa pojedinih novih trita. Takoe, vrijedanpanje je i podatak da je povean broj turista iz zemaljaEU (rast od 4% u 2013. u odnosu na 2012. godinu) kojipreferijaju krae i ee odmore, posebno u periodimavan ljetnje sezone, pa je za oekivati da i tokom ovegodine bude jo bolja posjeta u pred i post sezoni.

    Prema procjenama Svjetske turistike organizacije,region jugoistone Evrope moe i zaista postatisvjetska top destinacija. ta Crna Gora moe, anije jo uradila, da zaista bude takva destinacija?

    Zemlje jugoistone Evrope prepoznale su znaajzajednikih aktivnosti, i u tom smislu brojni su projektikoji se ve dui niz godina realizuju putem prekograninesaradnje, zatim se i zajedniki promoviu, prije svegana udaljenim tritima.Konkurentska prednost regiona jugoistone Evropepredstavlja bogatstvo i raznolikost prirodnih i kulturnihresursa, koji, objedinjeni, predstavljaju integralnituristiki proizvod. Tako definisan turistiki proizvod,uz adekvatan menadment i marketinki pristup, nanajbolji nain moe da valorizuje postojee resurse. Utom smislu, zajedniki marketinko-promotivni nastupiCrne Gore sa zemljama iz regiona, ve daju rezultate,pa se biljei rast broja turista i sa, za nas, udaljenihtrita.Ipak, kao i u samom regionu jugoistone Evrope tako iu Crnoj Gori, osnovne aktivnosti na kojima se dodatno

    mora raditi kako bi se obezbijedio dugoroan i odrivrazvoj turizma su: poboljanje dostupnosti, unapreenjeturistike i pratee infrastrukture, razvoj ljudskih resursa- obrazovanje i primijenjene vjetine, ouvanje ivotnesredine, razvoj i primjena informacionih tehnologija,uz intenzivne reforme ka poboljanju poslovnog iinvesticionog ambijenta.

    Turistika destinacija, koja nastoji dazauzme ali i odri svoju poziciju na svjetskojturistikoj mapi, mora imati u svojoj ponudi

    raznovrsne segmente turistikog proizvodaodgovarajueg kvaliteta.Tako mora i Crna Gora

    Ministarstvo odrivog razvoja i turizmaobjavilo je Javni poziv za pruanje

    podrke i dodjelu bespovratnih novanihsredstava za sufinansiranje organizovanjatematskih skupova, kulturnih, zabavnih,

    gastronomskih, sportskih i drugihmanifestacija, sve u cilju produenja

    turistike sezone

    It is a great pleasure to see prestigious tour-operatorsranking our country as a top destination in the region,Europe and on the global scene. We are beingrecognized by the range of diverse tourism productsfor tourists of different levels of purchasing power,and our goal is to promote and position Montenegroas an appealing tourist destination, attractive onthe international market all-year-round which offersdiversity responsive to the dynamic trends of the globalmarkets. Adding together its potentials, which haveyet to be developed in terms of tourism exploitation,Montenegro certainly deserves its ranking as a topdestination by its growth rate in the tourist industry forthe current year, as the same is expected in the ten-year period ahead, as stated in the latest Report of theWorld Travel and Tourism Council.

    Although it is obvious that Montenegros touristoffer has not been a labour union paradise for along time, but a rather inaccessible jewel even toits citizens, there are still various opinions about

    the direction of the development of tourism. Thus,there are the advocates for elite, mass or resorttourism. In your opinion, which would be the bestoption?

    In line with the strategic goals of the development oftourism, we are committed to developing Montenegrointo an all-year-round tourism destination. To that end,numerous activities have been undertaken to create adiversified offer, with the focus on increasing the levelof quality.We are definitely satisfied with the projects aimed at

    developing adventure tourism and nature-orientedtourism, which will be continued this year. Suchprojects are, first of all, Hiking and Biking, then thePeaks of the Balkans intended to boost mountain

    tourism in the cross-border area of Montenegro,Albania and Kosovo, Panoramic Roads ofMontenegro aimed at unifying the tourist offer ofthe Coast and the northern part of the country, andEthnic Gastronomic Routes. Especially attractiveto tourists are offers related to kite surfing, rafting,canyoning, etc.Important activities by employees in tourism arealso being directed towards the improvement ofthe event and congress tourism offer. Seventeeninternational and regional music festivals have beenorganized in Montenegro for the period from Mayto September 2014, and especially attractive foryoung people was the Exit festival on Jaz Beachin Budva in July 2014, together with many carnivalsand cultural events that have already become atradition.An important segment of the offer relates to thenational parks, and activities have also beenintensified towards the development of the segmentrelating to marinas and golf courses, among otherthings.

    To that effect, Porto Montenegro in Tivat has beenrecognized as one of the leading yacht marinasin the Mediterranean, with very high berthingstandards. In addition, Porto Montenegro includesa luxury residential estate that meets the needs ofdemanding affluent tourists. This is supported bythe fact that a growing number of global jet-settersare choosing Porto Montenegro as their destination,where they can enjoy swimming pools, restaurantsand bars, as well as the exceptional shoppingoutlets of worldwide famous fashion brands. Witha view to further enhancing their offer, construction

    of a luxury hotel, led by Porto Montenegro and inpartnership with the luxury hospitality group RegentHotels and Resorts, is in progress.

    What steps should Montenegro take in order toextend the tourist season? Are you satisfied with thecongress tourism, seminars and fairs that are actuallyextending the summer season?

    The Montenegrin tourist product has been continuouslydeveloped with an increasing quality of services.The campaigns, promotions and projects previouslymentioned are all aimed at extending the season.Further development of the MICE segment of our offer,for which Montenegro has been already recognized asa favourable destination for organizing professional-themed conferences, entertainments, cultural, sportsand other events, will be provided through the incentivesupport programme intended for organizers of traditionaland new events and gatherings of an appropriate type,to be held in the period from October to December. To

    that end, the Ministry of Sustainable Development andTourism has published a Public Invitation to providesupport and grants for co-financing the organizationof themed gatherings and cultural, entertainment,gastronomic, sports and other events.

    The fact that the activities we are undertaking to extendthe season have been successful, is indicated by the factthat one of the main characteristics of the 2013 seasonwas the recorded growth in the number of visitors inthe pre-season and post-season period, which meansthat a growth in the number of tourists and overnightstays was recorded from April and the number of visitswas significant in the post-high season period, as well.In October 2013, 45,000 tourists visited Montenegro

    and more than 185,000 overnight stays were recorded,which indicates growth of 21.2%, and 30.3% in thenumber of tourists and overnight stays respectively,compared to the same month in 2012.

    In addition, there are a large number of guestsin Montenegro from source markets that are ofimportance to us, and visits from some emergingmarkets were also recorded. It is also worthmentioning that the number of tourists from EU-member countries who prefer short breaks andmore frequent holidays especially in the off-season,increased (an increase of 4% in 2013, compared to2012), so this year visits in the pre-season and post-season can be expected to be even better.

    A tourist destination that is striving to takeand maintain its place on the global tourist

    map, must offer various segments of atourist product of a certain quality. The

    same is true for Montenegro

    According to the assessments of the World TourismOrganization, the South-East Europe region mightactually become a top global destination. Whatsteps can Montenegro take, that it hasnt alreadytaken, to truly become such a destination?

    The countries of South-East Europe have recognizedthe importance of joint activities, and to that end thereare numerous projects that have been implementedfor several years through cross-border cooperation.They are also being jointly promoted as destinations,primarily for more distant markets.The competitive advantages of the South-EastEurope region are the wealth and variety of naturaland cultural resources, which together represent anintegral tourist product. This tourist product, definedin that way, together with good management and agood marketing approach, can put to good use theexisting resources. In that sense, the joint marketingand promotions that Montenegro is carrying out withother countries in the region have already yielded

    results, thus we have recorded a growth in visitorsfrom more distant markets.However, as in the region of South-East Europe, themain activities that have to be further improved inMontenegro, as well in order to provide long-termand sustainable development of tourism include:improved accessibility, improvement of tourism andrelated infrastructure, human resources development education and applied skills, environmentalprotection, development and implementation ofinformation technologies, together with intensivereforms towards the improvement of the business

    and investment environment.

    svjetlosti, slobodan zatoenik i usunjena sloboda. To je nikada

    napisana istorija, u kojoj su ljudi vjekovima plakali krijomice i svoje

    Prednost je svakako injenica da Vlada Crne Gore daje veliku podrku sviminostranim investitorima. Ako uzmete u obzir iinjenicu da se zemlja nalazi u sreditu Evrope, jasno je da postoje svi neophodnielementi za stvaranje izuzetne turistike destinacije.

    Kao svako drugo trite u nastajanju i Crna Gora se susrijee sa izazovima.Infrastruktura u regionu mora da prati razvoj. Ovo je samo trenutno nedostatak,ali, sa druge strane, i prednost za upuene investitore. Svjedoci smo da postojeljudi koji takve nedostatke mogu pretvoriti u priliku za dobar biznis. Their touch has been magic, and the new success of Dukley Gardens bodeswell for the other projects the group has taken under their wings.Speaking about the typical Dukley homeowner, Mr. Colin Kingsmill, Head of Sales& Marketing, says that while the demographics are broadening, the project hasattracted a sophisticated set of well travelled buyers and young families seeking ahigher standard of living and the best quality in the region.To date, most homeowners have emerged from Eastern Europe the region, asthis was where marketing had primarily been focused.     - Yes. I agree whole-heartedly. With over a million tourists a year, and a growinginterest in the region, you cant argue with that statement.

    Do you see a trend toward exclusively up-market tourism and investment inMontenegro, or do you believe there is a wider market to develop?

    Montenegro has, for a long time, attracted affluent visitors. Before the turmoil ofconflict it was known to be a playground of stars from around the world. In ourcurrent era, the region continues to attract an affluent yachting crowd searchingout a bit of sea, sun and privacy.Certainly the regional development that you see today is focused on this higherend of the market. But Montenegro still attracts visitors from all stratospheres.The low cost of entertainment and recreation here, coupled with easy access onlow-cost air carriers supports a well rounded community of visitors. Something wesupport and encourage as we believe that diversity brings life to any destination.

    What is your view on investment conditions in Montenegro? What advantagesand disadvantages would you mention?

    The advantage is certainly the fact that everyone at all levels of government are verysupportive of foreign investment in the country. And, of course, there is growinginternational interest in the region and attractive tax rates. Layer on the fact that

    the country so well situated in the middle of Europe, you begin to see that all theessential ingredients are in place for the existence of an exceptional destination.As in any emerging market, there are challenges too. The regions infrastructureneeds to catch up with the pace of growth. A current disadvantage, but also anopportunity for the savvy investor. I think there is evidence all around us of peopletaking those disadvantages and turning them into opportunities. The recent influxof money towards development from Middle Eastern sources is just one exampleof this kind of investment.

    Koliko je bilo teko izboriti se sa tradicionalnommentalitetskom osobinom - nedostatkomsamopouzdanja i uvjerenjem da je sve sa stranebolje i da nema ni domae pameti niti snage da seveliki projekti osmisle i realizuju?

    - To je jedno drugim uslovljeno - ako imate znanje,imate i samopouzdanje, a oigledno je tadanedostajalo izvornog strukovnog znanja i iskustva.Ne zaboravite da smo 90 tih bili van svih svjetskihkretanja u turizmu i reperi su nam bili vezani zadesetljee prije toga. Montenegro stars, kako setada inilo, pojavio se niotkud i preko noi. Meutim,bili smo dovoljno odluni i, ako hoete, drski da sveto preskoimo i krenemo svojim putem. Imali smotoliko strpljenja, umijea i volje, da sve to izdrimo,

    Montenegro stars pojavio se niotkud ipreko noi. Meutim, bili smo dovoljnoodluni i drski, da sve to preskoimo i

    krenemo svojim putem. Danas je Splendidregionalni, pa i svjetski brend

    hotela. On je na neki nain obiljeio prelomnutaku Crne Gore, ne samo kada je u pitanjuhotelski biznis, ve biznis uopte i to je do danastako. Otvorio je vrata za sve ostale investitore.Investicije koje kreu ove i idue godine, a kojee promijeniti imid turistike ponude CrneGore, deavaju se, uz, donekle, i zasluge ovog

    hotela koji je, prije vremena, zaivio u Crnoj Gori.

    I pored toga to je osnivaki kapital mjeoviti:inostrano-domai, kompanija je ostalacrnogorski brend i odoljela ponudamavelikih svjetskih lanaca, kao to su Meriot ,Kempinski... Kako?

    -Zahvaljujui poslovnom partneru koji je imao

    povjerenja u mene. Trebala mi je podrka idobio sam je, u vidu partnerstva i formiranjemkompanije, u koju je investiran novac, koji jatada nijesam imao. On ju je od starta profilisaokao izvorno crnogorsku kompaniju, koja je tuosnovana i tu iskljuivo i posluje, tako da smo,za razliku od nekih drugih investitora, uspjelida izgradimo crnogorski brend Montenegrostars, koji nije postojao i da ga svake godineunaprijeujemo, dajui mu tako na znaaju.Pogledajte primjer Svetog Stefana - kao takavbrend, nestao je sa turistike mape, jer je todanas AMAN rizort. Visoko uvaavajui snagutog brenda, mislim da to, ipak, nije bio pravipotez, jer je Sveti Stefan uvijek bio prepoznatljiv idanas je kao nesvakidanja crnogorska prirodnaljepota.Neki drugi investitori su, meutim, postupilidrugaije: ni Sokar, ni Azmont, ni Porto, nijesusvoje ime stavili ispred onog Montenegro jeruviaju da je to dobro i za njih i za Crnu Goru.Jer, ako Crnu Goru ne budemo razvijali kao takoprepoznatu destinaciju, ni najbolji hoteli nam

    nee znaiti mnogo, niti e moi da se adekvatnorevalorizuju. Put je razvijaj destinaciju da birazvio sebe.

    -Koliko je loe to, u punu funkciju nije stavljencentralni i sjeverni dio Crne Gore, koji ak imajuvei potencijal od primorske regije, toliko jedobro to je to ostala autentina, ekoloki

    netaknuta priroda. Od 2003. godine, koja se uzimakao godina turistikog razvoja, do danas, doseglismo nivo kada mnogo racionalnije promiljamostandarde i siguran sam da emo bolje isplaniratitaj prostor, kada jednog dana zaive novi sadraji:hoteli , skijalita, banje... Optimista sam da e unarednom periodu upravo ti djelovi Crne Gore,

    postati vajcarska na jugu Evrope, jer imamo svepreduslove za to.

    Da li postoji bojazan da e se hotel Splendidubudue prepoznavati po seriji Budva na pjenuod mora ili je sam po sebi dovoljno prepoznatljiv?

    -Bez namjere da zvuim pretenciozno, mislimda su ovdje zamijenjene teze. Serija je postala

    prepoznatljiva po hotelu Splendid, a ne obratno, jerje hotel mnogo ranije postao regionalni, a zahvaljujuifilmu o Dejms Bondu i svjetski brend. Sama serijaje pojaala svoj brend kroz hotel, vjeto koketirajui

    upravo ti djelovi Crne Gore, postativajcarska na jugu Evrope, jer imamo sve

    preduslove za to

    njegovim sadrajima i intrigirajui panju, pa akohoete i matu publike. Splendid je u Beiima, pau Budvi, pa u Crnoj Gori, i to je vanije, zajedno saStarim gradom i ostalim sadrajima, promovisao ovudestinaciju u potpunosti.Splendid je, inae, ne samo veliki filmski studio zainostrane i domae ekipe, ve i omiljeno odmoriteglumaca, pjevaa, uopte pripadnika svjetskog detseta, koji su najvie doprinijeli da stekne svjetskuslavu. To je mnogo znailo za promociju ove drave.Nakon perioda kada je Crna Gora percipirana kaomjesto koje treba zaobii, potezom olovke, deava seistorijski i demokratski iskorak na Balkanu. Danas jeCrna Gora, uz Albaniju, najbolje uvana tajna Evrope.to nije loe, naprotiv, jer sami moemo da utiemona to kako je doivljavaju oni koji u nju dolaze. Da lismo je dobro pozicionirali lino mislim da ne, aliima dovoljno vremena i naina da i to popravimo. Nesporei da postoji jo mnogo lijepih i ljepih mjestana planeti, Crna Gora sa svojim raznolikostima

    na tako malom prostoru, uz povoljnu mikro klimu,jedna je od najprimamljivijih. Na putu ka Evropi,

    imamo sve predispozicije da te benefite iskoristimo,da se u nekih sljedeih 10 do 15 godina, sa 600hiljada, broj stanovnika uvea na milion i po, jer onai jeste najoptimalnije mjesto za ivot onih koji potujumeunacionalni sklad, samo ele bezbjedan i udobanivot, u prirodno lijepom prostoru, a pri tom na dvasata leta od evropskih prijestonica ili tri sata od Moskve.

    Mislite li da je bogata klijentela definitivno odnijelaprimat nad ljetovanjem na rate obinih graana?

    -Za ovako malu destinaciju, prevelik je luksus profilisatije kao destinaciju za bogate ili manje bogate. Vanoje da bude pristupana za sve goste, bez obzira nanjihovu platenu mo ili na to koliko su njihove potrebespecifine ili ne. Ne postoji destinacija na svijetu kojaje samo ekskluzivna. Uvijek je to neki miks. Tako trebada bude i sa Crnom Gorom. Kada je u pitanju daljastrategija vano je da budemo oprezni i mudri i da nedozvolimo da postane destinacija koja je preskupa.

    Hotel Splendid has raised the standards of theMontenegrin tourist offer. Still, many influentialand profitable companies have brought their capitalinto the Montenegrin tourist market. As the head

    of the elite and luxurious Splendid, what is youropinion on the competition?

    My opinion on the competition is highly positive and Iam being honest. Every single person in the businessworld must analyse themselves and their business,and that is where the role of competition becomesirreplaceable: one has to always observe their actionsand try to be better than they. The competition alsobrings synergy it strengthens the capacity of adestination; for example an increase in the number

    of hotels such as Splendid would strengthen thedestination and all of us within it.Have we raised the standards? We certainly have.During the construction of Hotel Splendid, reportersasked me: What kind of a hotel do you want tobuild? And I replied: The best in the world. I noticedthat they were baffled by the response so I added:Probably we wont build the best hotel in the world,but When you set a goal as high as that, you willprobably go further.

    Hotel Splendid is more than just a hotel and, Iwould say, it is something that came into existencein Montenegro ahead of its time, overcoming allprejudices and exceeding all standards that had beenestablished until then as the benchmarks of the tourist

    Do you think that there might be a fear for HotelSplendid to be recognized only because of the TVshow Budvana pjenu od mora (Budva on thefoam of the sea) in the future, or it is recognizablein its own right?

    - Without wanting to sound pretentious, I think thatthe arguments are a bit skewed in that regard. ThisTV show has become known because of HotelSplendid, not vice versa, because the hotel hasbecome a regional brand and much earlier a globalbrand because of the James Bond film. The showitself has enhanced its own brand through the hotel,flirting with its facilities and intriguing the attentionand, dare I say it, the imagination of the audience.Beginning with Beii, then Budva and finallyMontenegro, together with the Old Town and other

    amenities, Hotel Splendid has managed to promotethis destination to its fullest.And not only is Splendid a big film studio for foreignand domestic film crews, it is also the favourite resort

    -Thanks to a business partner who had faith in me:I needed support and I received it in the form of apartnership and the establishment of a companyinto which money, which I at the time did not have,was invested. From the start, he profiled it as anessentially Montenegrin company, founded andoperating exclusively in Montenegro, so, unlikemany other investors, we managed to develop aMontenegrin brand Montenegro Stars, whichhad not existed before, and to improve it year afteryear, thus attaching great importance to it. Take

    for example Sveti Stefan the brand as such hasdisappeared from the tourist map and today it isthe AMAN Resort. Although I highly appreciate thestrength of this brand, I do not think it was a wisedecision, since Sveti Stefan has always been, andwill continue to be, recognizable as a fascinatingnatural beauty of Montenegro.However, other investors had a different approach:neither SOCAR nor Azmont, nor Porto put their ownname in front of Montenegro because they realizedthat this was of benefit to both themselves andMontenegro. If we fail to develop Montenegro as a

    recognizable destination, even the best hotels wontmean much, nor will they be effectively put to use.Develop the destination in order to develop yourself.

    What needs to be done to make the mountainareas and health resorts, which are under-utilizedcompared with the coast, more attractive toinvestors?

    - In recognizing the fact that the central andnorthern regions of Montenegro, which even havemore potential than the coast, havent been fullyutilized, we must appreciate that these parts of thecountry have preserved their authentic, ecologicallyintact nature.
