Showtime at the Redlands Community Senior Center

The Encorez of Highlandheld their third annual Fol-lies at the Redlands Com-
munity Senior Center onWednesday April 24 and 25. Bothshows were sold out far in ad-vance. The Encorez preformed anenergetic song and dance showduring the dinner showcase. The Encorez is a senior (55 yearsplus) entertainment group from allover the Inland Empire area. Basedout of Highland, the Encorez has acast of about 20 performers, someinto their 90's.The Encorez visit several localretirement and convalescenthomes during the year. Performingabout eight to ten times a month,none of them are paid. The dona-tions that are brought in pay forequipment and supplies.According to one of the vocalistsBarbra Faurot, 76 from SanBernardino, the group is con-stantly changing as older castmembers leave the group and newmembers take their place. Theyhold auditions when needed. How-ever, you must be over the age 55to be part of "The Encorez". Bob Kitson was the official MCfor the program. Skip Krenz, fromHighland, was the sound techni-cian, who also preformed severalsongs including "Rock On By".Karen Lee from Highland per-formed two songs "What I ReallyMeant to Say" and a duet withSkip Krenz "Jackson". GinnyAceves from Highland danced tothe "Hawaiian Wedding Dance" asSkip Krenz sang, and Ginny alsodid a scare crow dance skit to thetune of "If I Only Had a Brain"from the Musical "Wizard of Oz". Carmen Gallegos from Highlandsang a Spanish number "Como LaFlor, and a duet with John Rozzie"Looking Through the Eyes ofLove". Faurot performed two mu-sical numbers, "UnchainedMelody", and a very sexy baroqueshowgirl number "Whatever LolaWants"! John Rozzi of Highland,preformed a solo song "AlmostLike Being in Love". RichardKaminski from San Bernardino,preformed two songs, including"In the Jail House Now", and"Volare". Bob Harvey from Highland, a re-tired UCLA professor, sang twosongs "These Foolish Things Re-mind Me of You", and "City ofNew Orleans".
Juanita Clarett from SanBernardino performed a very sexyjazzy number "My Dearest Dar-ling" and "Respect". MandoVasques performed two songsfrom "Your Cheating Heart" and"Hey Good Looking". CarlosMorales preformed two song forthe group "What a Difference a
Day Makes", and "Blue BurryHill". The entire cast was gathered forone final bow at the end of the pro-gram. During the program, Faurotwas recognized for her efforts inpushing for a second show andselling most of the tickets for theevent.
