Ink & Watercolor Workshop a two-day weekend workshop (September 21st & 22nd)@ McGuffey (This is an expanded two-day version of my sold-out Chicago and San Francisco workshops!) We will explore the power of using Ink(s) with your watercolor! (Also suitable for those
wanting to combine the use of inks with acrylic, color pencil, or pastel media.) Starting with a limited selection of inks and expanding to include your favorite dry, wet, or combination of painting, drawing, or sketching media, we will work on using line, shape, texture, and color design while creating our own images. Meeting in the McGuffey classroom on both Saturday and Sunday mornings to work on larger studio pieces.After an hour break for lunch, we work at nearby venues to explore using ink and color together for plein-air or sketching. The workshop is designed to be suitable for novice to advanced mixed media students who have some previous experience in drawing and/or painting. There will be lots of demos, handouts, and feedback.

Sketching Fall's Foliage Workshop a two-day workshop (Thursday, October 24th & Friday October 25th) @ SVAC (Shenandoah Valley Art Center, Waynesboro, VA.)
We will discover traditional and contemporary techniques for sketching the beautiful Autumn colors of our Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge mountains. Barring stormy weather, plan on at least two sessions working outside! We will explore the use of basic wet, moist, and dry sketching (drawing or painting) techniques while creating our own images. A workshop designed for beginners with some basic experience as well as Intermediate to Advanced students. The more experienced sketchers/painters will get a chance enrich their work with some more challenging and/or experimental approaches. There will be lots of demos and feedback.

A special small class for students experienced in watercolor/water-media who wish to do in-depth exploration of selected traditional and/or contemporary approaches to watercolor.
This fall our topics will be: A) the creative use of clear and color resist techniques B) the challenge of adding collage to our watercolors
We will make use of lots of demos, handouts, and other resources along with group critiques and personal feedback to help each student achieve their goals.
STUDENTS: Maximum of 8 students! Adults/very mature teens with prior experience in watercolor.
