I think it’s not too late to wish all father’s out there a Happy Father’s Day! “A father is a son’s first hero and a daughter’s first love”. We feel that as the most important man in our lives, a father deserve as much love and respect as we could give. If you still haven’t found the perfect gift for this occasion, have a look at what we have to offer in our father’s day promotion that is currently running. Read on to learn more about it.

This month also marks the 1st anniversary of herlitz schoolbags in Malaysia. When we introduced the 2014 collection of herlitz schoolbags last June, we were unsure on whether the consumers were ready to accept premium schoolbags in the market given the competition from other brands and designs.

launched on 13 June 2015 at Times bookstores Bangsar

Shopping Centre. The new herlitz schoolbag range offers

more variety of designs and a new model, motion plus,

which comes with the new ergonomic system, ergoActive.

Together with the launch, “Selfie for a herlitz bag” contest

was also announced as part of the promotion for the

“Selfie for a herlitz bag” contest is organised as part of the herlitz

schoolbag 2015 promotion. Offering a herlitz flexi plus worth

RM499 as the grand prize, the contest requires participants to

take photo or selfie with the Pelikan mascot and upload the

photos to Pelikan Malaysia Facebook page. The photos with

the most number of ‘likes’ will be chosen as the winner. (For

already visited 2 Times bookstores outlets at Bangsar Shopping

Centre (BSC) & Pavilion, and will make its final 2 appearances at

This year, herlitz bags are making a bigger splash than before! Previously available in Times bookstores outlets, the popular schoolbags can now be found at Borders Malaysia and Hallmark outlets. The growing channels for herlitz bags shows how well it’s doing in the market. Below is the list of where you can find herlitz bags:

The Expat

Many activities have been planned to promote the new range of herlitz schoolbags. One of them is print media advertising. For a start, the advertisement has been published in the June issue of The Expat magazine. The magazine provides information about all things Malaysian to resident expats and it is the most widely read magazine by English speaking expats.

We have recently launched a new FWI product, The Souverän 805 Demonstrator. Currently, it is being advertised on Pelikan Malaysia FB page and also magazines such as The Peak and the business newspapers Focus Malaysia and The Edge. Spread the word!

For the Father’s Day celebration, we are currently running two promotions for our FWI products. MO Shop, Mandarin Oriental KL is offering an exclusive Souveran M400 series gift set. Pelikan International Corporation Bhd held its 33rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) at The Saujana Hotel Kuala Lumpur on 17 June 2015. Pelikan Asia Sdn Bhd took this opportunity to showcase the latest products to the shareholders and held a special shareholder sale on that day. Among the products on display were the new Geha shredders range and the new herlitz schoolbag range.

Pelikan displayed a wide range of its FWI products at Isetan The Gardens Mall for 10 days. The display that started on 12 June and ended yesterday managed to attract Pelikan’s FWI fans to have a closer look at the products. Pelikan promoters were on duty to attend to the visitors there.

The Demonstrator as a completely transparent product was first launched to show how the piston mechanism works and soon became a huge success. Pelikan now offers this unusual product as a Special Edition in the size 805 with palladium plated trimmings. To harmonize the optical appearance, the 18 carat gold nib is entirely covered by rhodium. Ask a dad today and he will probably tell you that his father-daughter or father-son relationships differ widely from those he experienced with his own father. Changes in parenting styles have given men more options for responding to obligations as fathers, husbands or partners. Today’s dad is less likely to automatically rely on his own childhood experiences for fatherhood guidance. With the constantly changing roles of dads, what worked well for his father 30 years ago, may not

work at all with the complex and varied challenges modern fathers face.

Current research reveals that warm accepting fathers tend to have children with higher self-esteem. An affectionate and nurturing father-child relationship furthers the development of children’s achievement, peer popularity and personal adjustment. Loving fathers, who provide reasonable, firm guidance, without arbitrarily imposing their will, help to promote competence in children

Being an Engaged, Supportive & Loving Father

Spend time with your child. How a father spends his time reveals to his child what is important to him. Kids grow up


quickly and the time to bond is now. There are plenty of fun ways to spend family time with children.

Discipline with love and positive parenting. All children need positive guidance and discipline, not as punishment, but to set reasonable limits. Dads should remind children of the consequences of their actions and positively acknowledge desirable behavior. Fathers who discipline in a calm and fair manner show love for their children.

Be your child’s role model. Whether they realize it or not, fathers are role models to their kids. A girl who spends time with a loving father grows up knowing she deserves to be treated with respect by boys and she learns what to look for in a partner. Fathers teach boys and girls what is important in life by demonstrating honesty, humility and responsibility.

Earn the right to be heard. Fathers should begin conversations with their children about important topics when they are very young so that difficult subjects will be easier to handle as they get older. Take time for listening to your child’s ideas and problems.

Be your child’s teacher. To be a good father, teach your children about right and wrong and encourage them to do their best. See that your children make good choices. Involved fathers use everyday examples to help children learn the basic lessons of life.

Eat together as a family. An important part of healthy family life is bonding through family meals. It gives kids the chance to talk about what they are doing and want to do. It is also a good time for fathers to listen and be involved. It provides a structure for families to be together each day.

Read to your child. In a modern world dominated by television and internet, it is important that fathers make the effort to read to their children in order to grow lifelong readers. Begin reading when they are very young and as they get older, encourage them to read on their own. Instilling a love of reading is one of the best ways to ensure children will have a lifetime of literacy and personal and career growth.

Respect the other parent of your child. Parents who respect each other and demonstrate mutual respect to their children, provide a secure environment for them. When children see parents respecting each other, they are more likely to feel that they are also accepted and respected within the father-child relationship.

Seek involvement early. Show interest early by understanding a father’s role during pregnancy or the adoption or surrogacy process and gently touch, play, hold and talk to your infant child. When fathers are involved, they send the clear and emphatic message: “I want to be your father. I am interested in you and we have a relationship that is important to me.”

Few events change a man’s life as much as becoming a father. Being entrusted with the responsibility and care of another person is a monumental task but none is more rewarding than becoming a father and seeing your child grow gradually into adulthood, with your affection returned in good measure and your child’s self-worth confirmed. Hopefully, these parenting tips can provide some guidance to dads trying to learn how to become engaged, supportive, and loving fathers.
