Initial Planning Sheet 3 (+) Target Objectives:Instructional Growth Objective: (propose one focus element from Standard 1, 2 or 3)

Professional Growth Objective: (propose any element from Standard 4 or 5)

Data-Based Objective

(Optional) Administrator-identified objective (Optional) Additional teacher-identified objective

TGDC Protocols, p. 7 Slide 64Time: 5 min.

Keep IPS slides moving direct them to look in Protocol Guides (p. 7) at a later time if they need more information.

The first three items are jointly agreed upon by Article X, and are required. The other two are optional.

It is within administrators discretion to add an additional objective from ANY element. If the admin-selected objective is a focus element, the teacher may decide to defer to the admins choice (meaning replace the teacher-selected focus element from bullet point 1 with the admin-selected focus element). Also, the administrator may encourage the teacher to keep both his/her own plus the administrators added element.

Re: the (+) If the administrator exercises the option to select an additional objective, it is NOT OPTIONAL for the teacher to work on that objective. The teachers platform will indicate Required If Assigned.2My PGS: Initial Planning Sheet

Explain briefly have them refer to the TGDC Protocols (p. 9) at a later time if they need more information. Also, see next slide and Participant Manual pg. 12.

Note: Informal Observations are different from Formal Observations in that they are not scheduled, there is not a pre- nor a post-observation conference, and the administrator does not score the evidence collected. They need to take place throughout the school year. They should not be bunched up at the end of the year.

Minimum of 2 per year short visits (10 min). These visits may be scheduled or unscheduled, however, they were renamed IGP because they differ from what we have known as informal visits. Depending on the focus element your teacher has chosen, you may need to schedule the visits in order to capture evidence. Teacher will complete Mid-Year and End-of-Year Reflections.

BRIEFLY refer participants to the Participant Manual p. 12 to review the Informal Growth Plan Visits only. (Do not review the Formal and Informal at this time.)

The table on this slide presents the different observations that are included in the TGDC. The Formal and Informal Observations are required. The Supplemental observation is optional and may be initiated by the teacher or administrator. All observations require that the observer collect and enter objective evidence into the MyPGS platform and align the evidence to the appropriate elements of the Teaching and Learning Framework.

Take a moment to review the table to make sure you understand the differences and similarities among all the observation types included in TGDC. 62014-15 TGDC Completion DatesTeacher Self-Assessment(Administrator can only see Completion)9/5/2014Initial Planning Sheet Submission10/3/2014 (extended)Initial Planning Conference10/17/2014 (extended)Informal Growth Plan Visits (At least 2 completed by 4/17/15)Sept AprilFormal Observation Cycle 111/21/2014Formal Observation Cycle 23/27/2015Final Evaluation Report5/4/2015
