Mind MapBefore we decided on any ideas, we did a mind map each,

to see what different ideas we came up with, to then adapt. Here is an example below.

Word Clouds

We also did a mind map of words that relate to documentary, to help us get an idea of what they include

and the different styles of documentary.

Who is Michael Moore?• Michael Moore is an American filmmaker, author and liberal political commentator.

• Michael Moore was born in Flint, on April 23 1954. Michael began his journalistic career writing for the school newspaper and after dropping out of college briefly worked as the editor for "Mother Jones’’.

• He then turned to filmmaking, and to earn the money for the budget of his first film Roger & Me (1989) he ran neighbourhood bingo games. The success of this film launched his career as one of America's best-known and most controversial documentary maker.

Spurlock’s Methods• Spurlock used shock tactics to allow the public to see the horrible effects of

eating fast food in large quantities.

• His motive was to expose and express to the public the immediate affects of consuming McDonalds products and the affect this is having on the health of the public.

• Spurlock uses very reflexive methods in his documentaries and during Supersize Me in particular he went to the extreme, using himself as a human guinea pig.

Our Ideas• We have decided our target audience will be

teenagers ranged between 13-18.

• We also want it to appeal to females and males, so our topic has to interest both.

• We were thinking of basing it on

teenage lifestyle/experiences to

show how different teenagers cope

with different problems.

What style we have chosen to do. We have chosen to use an expository style of

documentary, as we felt this would be the most effective style to utilize our ideas.

We decided this style for our own documentary because we were inspired and influenced by the

impact of both Moore’s and Spurlock’s documentaries.

Clips of films

We interviewed a few people from our target audience for some research, about what documentaries they watch

and why they enjoy watching them, so we could relate it to our documentary.

We also created a video by interviewing people about some teenage topics and how they cope with different

situations. We also used a number of different camera angles and documentary styles, to give us a taste of

what we could use in our documentary.
