INITIAL DESIGN IDEAS OF A DIGIPAKBlanc Productions

The overall idea… To link to the pop genre I like the idea of having

my artists face as the main focus of the digipak. This builds the artists identity and makes her

more recognisable. So to create ideas I will first take many photos

of the artist and base my ideas around the photos for maximum impact on the final product.

However as my sub genre is pop rock I will include some of the clown imagery inspired by the music video accompanying the digipak.

Initial photos to work with -Here are my first initial photos to see how my artist looks close up. I especially like the middle one as she’s extremely close to the camera and reminds me the most of stereotypical pop album covers. I also like how in the bottom photo she is placed to the right of the photo giving a different dynamic.

To experiment more with close up photos I turned her to the side for a different perspective. I feel this is less formal however, and doesn’t fit with the genre of the digipak. I do like her hair though, as turning to the side allows it to be more in shot, and an idea I could pursue is experimenting with the hair more in the shot.

Close up development pictures and ideas -

Here is one of my cover ideas developed from my initial photos. I utilised the artists stereotypical blonde hair to highlight the pop genre, however as it’s messy and across her face this gives a dirtier feel to the cover which links to my pop rock genre. Either next to her face or photoshopped over I will include clown images from the music video to further the sub genre of my choice.

I also experimented again with turning her to the side. I feel this gives a more mysterious feel as the shot is more candid, however I prefer when she is looking at the camera s it’s like she’s looking at the consumers encouraging them to buy the digipak.

Further hair photos - Here I took shots a little further away to include more of the hair. I got her to mess up her hair for more playful and sensual poses to link to the pop genre.

These are more candid shots that were not as structured as the others. I actually like how natural they feel, and would give the illusion of the consumers getting a further insight into the life of the artist. This in turn could sell more digipaks.

Hair photo developments and ideas -

Below are mid shots of the artist playing with her hair. This longer shot is more ideal for a poster, and it shows off more of the artist which is ideal in a pop genre. Within the hair I could photoshop clown images within, or have it across the background for a weird dreamy effect to link to the pop rock sub genre.
