Targeted AudienceThe magazine will be aimed at mainly females, aged between 16-25, unemployed and will probably come from a white background; this result came from a previous questionnaire for my magazine which show who the magazine will attract. The only thing that changed was the ages being increase as I would like to target and audience more interested in the music, which is what the content will be about, rather than stereotypically if the were younger being interested in the gossip. In order to target this audience the layout would look clean and classic with a consistent style, like Q magazine, rather than allow changing and having the cover packed with information. The contents of the magazine will consist of information about artist and their new music rather than about the artist life, this will show a clean genre of the magazine being about music.

Contents of the MagazineThe contents of the magazine will consist of information about the artist and new music, these were the two most popular options on the question and in order to attract the targeted audience the magazine will, have to be bases completely about the music industry. The stories may include upcoming events, for example is and artist just brought out and album and is going on tour. The coverlines will have to attract the audience so ironic and funny one may be ideal, for example puns. The double page will be ideal if it was about an upcoming artist with and new album or tour, this will interest the audience, as it is something new.

Genre ConventionsThe main image on the cover will be a mid-shot one artist/band as is seen on most magazines; also this was the most popular result from the questionnaire. I would like the magazine to look similar to RollingStone or Q magazine, with will be for layout and style as the are both two successful magazines targeting a similar audience.San serif was the most popular font to choose for the magazine, which will make the magazine look more in formal, also giving the magazine a more casual look. The colour scheme will include red as is featured in many magazines but also black and green as they were the other two most popular choices to the audience.

PhotographyThe costumes throughout the magazine will depend on the artists as they vary. With alternative music, which is the magazines genre, they can’t either wear extravagant clothing or just plain clothing. This is because the artist focuses mainly on the music. Most images in alternative magazines are of artists when performing or at gigs/concerts, this would mean there isn't much lighting other than the stage lighting, which focuses on the artist. The magazine may look more appealing to the targeted audience if the main artist on to cover was using direct address; this is seen on most magazine and allows the audience to connect. If the main image was of a female artist, stereotypically they wear more makeup and dress more exaggerated the male artists. Generally the only props used throughout music magazines and musical instruments like microphones and guitars. Alternative music is often the type of music played at gigs meaning the setting will generally be base in places like pubs and small venues.
