any direction shall have no harmful
effects.
minute
Prepssure:30 kPa at distance of3m
6 Power fulwater jets
Water projected in powerful jets(12.5 mm nozzle) against the
enclosure from any direction shallhave no harmful effects.
Test duration: at least 3 minutesWater volume:100 litres per
minutePrepssure: 100 kPa at a distance
of 3 m
7 Immersion up
to 1 m
Ingress of water in harmful quantity
hall not be possible when theenclosure is immersed in water
under defined condtions of pressureand time (up to 1 m of submersion).
Test duration: 30 minutes
Immersion at depth of at lest 1 mmeasured at bottom of device,
and at least 15 cm measured attop of device
8 Immersionbeyond 1 m
The equipment is suitable forcontinuous immersion in water
under conditions which shall be
specified by the manufacturer.Normally, this will mean that thequipment is hermetically sealed.
However, with certain types ofequipment, it can mean that water
can enter byt onloy in such amanner that it produces no harmful
effects.
Test duration: continuousimmersion in water
Depth specified by manufacturer

Duty cycle of motor:
IEC (the International Electrotechnical Commission) uses eight duty cycle designations to
describe an electrical motors operating conditions:
S1 Continuous duty The motor works at a constant load for enough time to reachtemperature equilibrium
S2 Short time duty The motor works at a constant load, but not lond enough toreach temperature equilibrium. The rest periods are long
enough for the motor to reach ambient temperature
S3 Intermittent periodic
duty
Sequential, identical run and rest cycles with constant load.
Temperature equilibrium is never reached. Stating current haslittle effect on temperature rise.
S4 Intermittent periodic
duty with stating
Sequential, identical start, run and rest cyckles with constant
load. Temperature equilibrium is not reached, but startingcurrent affects temperature rise.
S5 Intermittent periodicduty with electric
braking
Sequential, identical cycles of starting, running at constant loadand running with no load. No rest periods.
S6 Continuous operation
with intemittent load
Sequential, identical cycles of running with constant load and
running with no load. No rest periods.
S7 continuous operation
with electric braking
Sequential identical cycles of starting, running at constant load
and electric braking. No rest periods
S8 Continuous operation
with periodic changes inload and speed
Sequential, identical duty cycles run at constant load and given
speed, then run at other constant loads and speeds. No restperiods.
