Dear readers, Welcome to the comeback edi�on of our Annual magazine. A�er the first edi�on in 2015, our Annual magazine gets resurrected here in the third year and it gives us immense joy and sa�sfac�on to finally re-introduce “INGENIUM 4”. In this edi�on, we try to bind together each and every aspect of our GCE family and we hope it inspires every GCEians to ac�vely contribute in the development of our department academically and also in extra curricular ac�vi�es. It represents the crea�ve side of our students to a fair degree—something that we think we all need to reconnect with, amidst the busy schedule of semester exams, surprise quizzes and all those assignments that make you want to bang your head on the wall.

We thank all of you who stood by us pa�ently and contributed in the development of our magazine when there were days when the only thing we had to offer was our own confusion. Also we are lucky to have talented students in our college because of whom we have shown consistent performances in sports and cult ac�vi�es over years. Another year has come to an end where we reap the harvest for an

academic year filled with hope, joy and aspirations. These have taken shape in

the form of our magazine. It fills me with immense delight to acknowledge the

creative endeavours of the students and faculties who have contributed to

Ingenium Vol. 7. I appreciate the whole team of Ingenium for its tremendous

efforts to bring out this magazine in time.

Gaya College of Engineering is fully dedicated in its efforts to deliver the best

education and values to its students. This magazine also reflects the growth of

our institution on many fronts. We stand by the vision that for achieving

complete education, the overall development of the student is required. Hence,

we give platform to our students to nurture their talents and personality. The

college has been actively involved in various activities such as workshops,

seminars, cultural programmes, Techfest (Graviton), Blood Donation camps.

This magazine puts before you the creative side of our faculties and students.

I urge my students to stay positive in every phase of their lives and work

hard to fulfil their dreams. Remember the words of Nelson Mandela who says

Our sole aim for educated, valued and poverty alleviated genera�ons. Service to humanity is service to God; and we gceians take the privilage to do so. Iron Man of IndiaSardar Vallabhbhai Patel, was the first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of India, played a major role in India's freedom struggle and guided its integra�on into a united, independent na�on. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who struggled a lot through his en�re life, completed his matricula�on at the age of 22, later became an Indian Barrister and statesman. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel also acted as de facto Supreme Commander-in-chief of the Indian Army during poli�cal integra�on of Indian and Indo-Pakistan War of 1947. A�er comple�ng his educa�on, first in India and a�er that in England, Sardar Patel along with 'Father of the Na�on' Mahatma Gandhi, dedicated his life for the freedom struggle of India. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, was also a believer in non-violence. Sardar Patel supported Mahatma Gandhi's Non-coopera�on movement and was a resolute supporter of Mahatma Gandhi against his Swarajist cri�cs. Commonly called Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was a lawyer by profession and was lovingly given the �tle of Sardar, meaning leader or chief. He was the first Deputy Prime Minister AND Home Minister of India. He is credited for the poli�cal integra�on of over 500 princely states into the independent Indian Union. For this reason October 31st (his birthday) is celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Divas (Na�onal Unity Day). Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1991.

िस�ाथा� हॉ�ल : हमारा दूसरा घर

हमसब का अपना सफ़र शु� होता है,जब हमसब अपना पुराना बसेरा छोड़ अपने नए आवास पर एक नए सफ़र को सफ़र को आगे बढ़े थे, पहली बार अपने घर के अलावा कुछ अपना सा लगा था, हालांिक कुछ साथी छुट गए थे,

जो साथ नही आ पाए थे | हमसब नए जगह आकर ब�त खुश थे, एक-दम नया उमंग था, हाँ यहाँ आने से पहले

हमेशा मन म� एक संशय था, नए जगह पर कैसे रह�गे, अगल-बगल कोई बड़ा बाजर नही था,पुरे क� पस म� बस एक

टेनी जी का चाय का ठाबा था लेिकन हमेशा हमारे सीिनयर बोलते थे की हॉ�ल म� रहने म� अ�ा लगता है, और

ब�त म�ी होता है, बस यही सोचकर आ गए थे, हॉ�ल म� छोटा सा मेस था और िदलीप जी जो हमेशा हंसते रहते

थे, एक साइिकल और थोड़ी सी उनकी मु�ान और दो-तीन उनका अजीबो गरीब �ाफ बस यही छोटा सा मेस

था | हॉ�ल आते ही नए-नए दो� बनने शु� हो गए थे, िजससे पहले �ादा मतलब नही रहता था, िजनके बारे म�

गलत बोलते थे, आज लग रहा थी िक गलती हमसे ही �ई थी , वो तो अ�े थे | धीरे-धीरे खेल के �ित �झान बढ़ा

था, जो खेल कभी नही खेले थे वो भी खेलने का मौका िमला था, धीरे-धीरे अ�ा लगने लगा था | अब �ितिदन यहाँ

कुछ लोग नीचे बैठकर ब�त सारी बात� (फेकां) करते थे, हालांिक उन बातो ंका मतलब नही ंथा, लेिकन एक दुसरे

को नीचे िगराने की पूरी कोिशश होती थी, लेिकन उसका तो कोई मतलब ही नही था और बात ख़� होती थी और

सब ख़ुशी से िनकल जाते थे | लेिकन कुछ ऐसे भी लोग थे जो शािमल नही थे वो अपने �म म� िकताबी कीड़ा बने

पड़े थे और ब�त कम ही िदखते थे और एक �ुप था जो अपनी दुिनया म� रहते थे | बस महादेव की भ�� म� लीन

रहते थे | एक मु� बात जो थोड़ी सी पीड़ा देती है लेिकन ख़ुशी भी देती है | अपने हॉ�ल से सीिनयर सर के

हॉ�ल जाना | वहाँ जाकर सबका चेहरा ही बदल जाता था | चेहरा देखने लायक होता था सबका और वहाँ से

आना पर मूड ही उतर जाता था | यहाँ हॉ�ल म� एक-दो �म ऐसा था जो सबके िलए सामान थे | वहाँ कोई भी आ

जा सकता था, और वो कुछ कर भी नही सकते थे, ब�त परेशां होते थे| धीरे धीरे जीवन बदलने लगा था और हमारे

सीिनयर सर कॉलेज से जका रहे थे, ब�त दुःख हो रहा था , मारते डाटते कब हमलोग के साथ इतना अ�ा �र�ा

बन गया पता ही नही ंचला, जाते समय ब�त रोये थे हमलोग अब पूरी िज��ेवारी हमलोग पर आ गए थे और

हमलोग उनसे घुलने लगे थे,लेिकन सीिनयर सर की याद आ ही जाती थी, अब धीरे धीरे समय िबतते गया, अब

हमलोगो ंको लगने लगा की यहाँ से जाना ही होगा, लेिकन, िदल नही ंमान रहा था |हम दो�ो ंम� घिन�ता बढती जा

रही थी |अब िदन िगनने म� लगा था |ब�त असमंजस की ��थित उ�नं हो रही थी| ब�त दर लग रहा था यहाँ से

जाने का नाम सुन कर लेिकन �ा करता ब�त जुडाव हो गया था, यहाँ की िमटटी से , िस�ाथा� हॉ�ल से, अपने

भाई जैसे दो�ो ंसे जो हमेशा ऊँगली करने म� आगे रहते थे लेिकन जब ज�रत होती थी तो च�ान से खरे हो जाते

थे, हाँ अलग अलग �ुप बना था लेिकन कुछ अलग तरह का जुडाव हो गया था सबसे जो महसूस िकया जा सकता

था, अपने छोटे भासी जैसे जूिनयर जो हमेशा हर बार मानता था, और सब ब�त अ�ा था खासकर 2k16 के

जूिनयर | जुडाव हो गया था िदलीप जी से जो कभी भूखे सोने नही ंदेते थे, जुडाव हो गया था टेनी जी की चाय से,

गोपाल जी का ढाबा सरैया, 9 िमल मु�ा जी और हमारे O.S.D. सर से, जाने का एक कदम मन नही ंहै,इन सब

चीजो को छोड़ कर, पता नही ंआगे �ा होगा, अगर जीवन म� िफर से G.C.E म� जीने का मौका िमले तो ज�र

जीना चा�ँगा, िफर से िस�ाथा� हॉ�ल आना चा�ँगा, उ�ी दो�ो ंके साथ कभी नही ंभूल पाउँगा | ये है मेरा िस�ाथा�

To make our life meaningful, we need to mind our thoughts, for our thoughts are the foundation, the inspiration, the motivating power of our deeds. We create our entire world by the way we think. Thoughts are the causes and the conditions are the effects.

Our circumstances and conditions are not dictated by the world outside; it is the world inside us that creates the outside. Self-awareness comes from the mind, which means soul. Mind is the sum total of the states of consciousness grouped under thought, will and feeling. If we observe ourselves , we can easily mould our thoughts. If thoughts are pure and noble, our actions will naturally follow the same pattern. If our thoughts are filled with reflect the same attributes. However, a thought or intent is more responsible and dynamic than an act. One may perform a charitable act, but if one does not think charitably and is doing the act just for sake of gain and glory, it is one’s thoughts that will determine the result.Our thoughts affect the whole body. Let us reflect and send loving and helpful thoughts and lighten the load of the world’s suffering.

Training-Workshop on

Advancement and Trends in Water Resource

The training-workshop on “Advancement and Trends in Water Resource” was organised by

Civil Engineering Department during 13-17 March 2018 at the campus. The objective of the

course was:

1. The knowledge of water resource is prerequisite for the irrigation engineering/hydrologist and also for design of hydraulic structure. So one of the objectives of this course is to impart the knowledge of water that deals with the occurrence, distribution, movement and properties and quality of water on the earth 2. To impart the knowledge of various advance Remote Sensing Techniques 3. To learn about hydrology, water resource distribution systems for canal irrigation, design of unlined and lined irrigation canals design sediment problems associated with canal

To make workshop more significant to students the following experts from different domains

were invited:

Dr. Manoj Kumar Tiwari, IIT Kharagpur. Topic of discussion was (Concept of Water Pricing, International/National Water Norms and Standards, Waste Water Treatment Water Issues and Challenges). Prof. Prabhat Kumar Dikshit, IIT BHU, Varanasi. Topic of presentation was (Remote Sensing and GIS, Morphometry Analysis and Erdas Imagine – Introduction) Mr. Suresh Kumar, Senior Environmental Specialist, Ranchi, Topic of presentation and discussion was (Water Quality and Water Scarcity – Identification of key issues) Dr. L.B. Roy, NIT Patna discussed about the Water Resources Challenges. Mr. Shailesh Kumar, Nalanda Engineering College, presented about his unique experience of Glaciers and its modelling. After the end of the course, feedback was taken from the students and following were the recommendations: 1. To make it a point to conduct learning needs assessment before the training, to gauge the participants' level of awareness and understanding of indigenous peoples' issues 2. To revise the power point presentations to make them less text-heavy and more engaging. 3. To have a mechanism for follow-up on the outcomes of the trainings.
