How Can You Track

an Animal? Have you ever found a patch of animal hair in the

woods? What about trampled grass or food that’s been

left behind? These clues can help you find an animal!

It’s important to know about an animal’s behavior.

Does it chew sticks or dig holes? You should also know

what its footprint looks like. Is the print big like a

bear’s paw? Is it small like a hamster’s paw?

NATURE EXPLORERS!Nature Cat wants to learn about different animals’ footprints. Bears leave big, wide footprints. Rabbits

leave two pairs of small footprints. Nature Cat and friends even look at their own footprints.

Squeeks always keeps her eyes and ears open. She sees a chewed stick. The bite marks on the stick let her know she’s

hot on Sir Gallahad’s trail. Look for signs of animals next time you’re outside. Do you see footprints? Can you hear

an animal rustling in the trees?

Hal is trying to track Sir Gallahad the hamster. He can smell the
