Editors commentMRO IT is about the latest technologies and solutionsleveraging value from the whole fleet, all the time

The first flight of the Boeing 737 MAX in 2017 will mark a significant aviation milestone. Firstflown in 1967, this is no legacy aircraft: the 737 MAX will illustrate that new technology

efficiency and established reliable success are far from mutually exclusive ideas. I mention

this because ability to span several generations of technological enhancement matters in

commercial aviation as it is and as it is likely to become.

Given the high cost of development, it is likely that future new designs will need to adapt

to changing requirements and possibilities over a production cycle spanning many decades.

Also, given the purchase price of new aircraft, owners (airlines and lessors) will want to

apply whatever technologies and processes can best ensure a long and productive life for

their investment. Most of these technologies and processes will be Aircraft IT or use IT for

    their effectiveness.

There is an article in this issue from an airline using an engineering upgrade requirement

to leverage a whole lot more IT capability which will serve for many years to come. Theres also an article on the latest

information exchange standards, making documentation more useful and easier to use and, at the same time, better

able to manage engineering, technology and IT changes emerging in future years. Efficient use of aircraft is a keyto business success for airlines; so the article on using data culled from experience to better plan maintenance and

forecast wear offers real value. Finally, an article on leveraging business value from an unavoidable process: compliance

generates lots of useful information; so use it profitably.

As always, youll learn what makes a key software vendor tick plus How Michael Denis sees IT. All wrapped with useful

news and information from your sector.

The Aircraft IT live demonstration webinars allow readers to research the software package most appropriate for their

needs and access past webinars with more focus than ever while, of course, future webinars are open for every reader

    who registers.

Technology and IT solutions will continue to amaze us but they will have to be able to benefit existing as well as new

designs and processes to be economically acceptable to the market. At Aircraft IT MRO we aim to keep you up to date

on new ideas as well as the latest developments in established ideas and designs that work.

New helicopter engineering clients for 2MoROs Aero One whileAero-Webb gains much sought-after SAP certificationAERO ONE BY 2MoRO SOLUTIONS HAS BEEN CHOSEN BYEUROCOPTER MALAYSIA FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF THE PART145 ACTIVITIES2MoRO was proud to announce that after a competition and proof ofconcept, in early December 2013 EUROCOPTER Malaysia signed for Aero Oneto complete its Information System and manage its Part 145 business. AeroOne will complete SAP Business One, the world proven ERP for small andmedium size companies so as to offer to EUROCOPTER Malaysia one uniqueinformation system to manage all its activities. This choice demonstrates once again the relevance of the solution SAP

Business One + Aero Oneto meet the needs of subsidiaries of large groupsor small and medium-sized aircraft operators or repair centers. Indeed, thesecompanies are looking for an easy-to-use information system to establish andmaintain. They want to avoid having to manage data consistency betweenfinancial systems, inventory system, maintenance system, billing system, flight operations system... all these features are now possible in a singlesystem based on a single database. This greatly facilitates the managementof the company that can rely on reports and dashboards based on reliable, comprehensive and accurate data.

Available today in five languages (English, Spanish, Russian, French andPortuguese) and already operated in more than 15 countries, Aero One isdelivered by a worldwide network of partners that leverage SAPs globalknowledge to provide local service and support.

AERO ONE BY 2MoRO HAS BEEN CHOSEN BY EUROCOPTERKAZAKHSTAN ENGINEERINGIN less than two months following the EUROCOPTER Malaysia deal (see above), atthe beginning of February 2014 a second AIRBUS HELICOPTER subsidiary selected2MoRO and its software Aero One to manage their Maintenance activities.EUROCOPTER KAZAKHSTAN ENGINEERING signed with Aero One to completetheir Information System and manage their Part 145 business.

Aero One will enhance SAP Business One and also 1C, Russian businesssoftware. EUROCOPTER KAZAKHSTAN ENGINEERING will take advantage of anintegrated information system to manage all its activities (assembly and MRO)with a solution available both in English and in Russian.

Our Aero One Customers are very satisfied with working with our localpartners in their own language. It is easier for all the team to implement thesolution and manage the legal and fiscal concerns in the future informationsystem. Our Aero One consultants are in charge of the MRO expertise andthey help our partners to perform the best implementation for our customers. This collaboration between local consultants and our aviation softwareexperts is one of the key success factors for an efficient and optimizedimplementation of the new information system of our customers. In thesmall and medium sized companies, there are very few people dedicated toinformation systems, they are mainly focused on their main business and theycant spend too much time to implement new software said Mr. David Ferrier,Business Development Director at 2MoRO.

AEROWEBB BY 2MoRO NEW RELEASE 6.0 CERTIFIED BY SAPIT was at the end of December 2013 that 2MoRO proudly announcedthat its Aero-Webb web software suite 6.0, dedicated to the optimizationof maintenance activities (fleet tracking, configuration control, inspectionand decision making, planning, and execution of maintenance tasks) hassuccessfully passed the certification test JAVA-EE-NW 7.3 provided by SAPand, therefore, received the SAP Certified - Powered by SAP NetWeaver logo.

SAP is the leading ERP (Entreprise Resource Planning) software providerand thousands of Aviation companies in the world are using its standardfunctionalities. This certification confirms that all the rules and gooddevelopment practices established by SAP were followed to ensure both astandardized integration of Aero-Webb with SAP and an optimum use ofthe SAP NetWeaver Web server.

Aero-Webb was designed to complete this ERP with standard and user-oriented MRO functionalities. This new certification illustrates 2MoROscommitments to the SAP Aviation community. SAP users can now takeadvantage of the latest Aero-Webb off-the-shelf modules rather thanspending time and money to complete SAP by developing specific additionalfunctionalities or complex interfaces with other MRO software. The Aero-Webb connectivity cockpit also enables the connection with numerous otherInformation Systems (MIS, Flight Schedules, ERP, PLM) and is helpful for datamigration phases. For all these reasons, certain customers have chosen Aero-Webb even if they are not using the SAP ERP.

Aviation Island Managing Director, Kico Cerdo, explained,RAAS was found to have all tools required to perform theairworthiness control of commercial aircraft and a clearspirit of continuously improving the user experience. Wetrust that RAAS will become one of the references in thecrowded maintenance software market.Aviation I nterTecServices Director of Operations, Eric Hansen, added, Kicoand the team at Aviation Island have taken us in a newand exciting direction, and through continued partnershipwe expect to break new ground in the CAMO servicesprovision model.

NAV CANADA CHOOSES RAASAT the beginning of December 2013, shortly after theAviation Island announcement, it was also announced thatCanadian federal airspace regulatory agency NavigationCanada had chosen RAAS as its preferred aviationmaintenance and engineering system solution, in supportof its specialized fleet of CRJ and DHC8 aircraft.

Facing the increasing challenges of providing proofof compliance while supporting a robust continuingairworthiness program, Nav Canada undertook thesearch for a suitable replacement aviation maintenanceand engineering system with a feature set diverseenough to satisfy Nav Canadas unique requirements. After considering a range of competing products RAASwas chosen not only for its broad array of functionsbut also because of its very modern hosted cloudapplication delivery model, which ensures quick system

implementation as well as easy distribution of the systemsolution across the primary enterprise while also providingaccess to contract third-party maintenance providers.

Nav Canada PRM Paul Wood commented, AIS approachto development of hosted cloud solutions for theenterprise aviation operation is in-line with both ourfunctional and operational requirements. After comparinga range of systems our decision to proceed with RAASbecame obvious.

ACAS EXTENDS RAAS USEAVIATION InterTec Services customer Atlantic CoastAircraft Services (ACAS) has chosen RAAS for deploymentof paperless procedures within their maintenanceorganization. Following the early December 2013announcement, ACAS will take advantage of existingRAAS features that enable paperless operation includingwork assignment, electronic signature and maintenancerelease to the job, job-task or job-task-step level.Additionally, ACAS, key in trial testing the RAAS EFB/EML iPad app, will employ the app to facilitate electronicmaintenance logs on the aircraft, including defectreporting, defect closure, defect deferral and O&Mprocedure sign off.

Bill Yeager, ACAS Chief Operating Officer, commented,ACAS selected RAAS system due to its modern andextensible technology. Aeroflot will use the MRO software for all aircraft types in orderto assure a smooth implementation process and achieve an early return oninvestment.

UTAIR AVIATION GROUP TAKES OFF WITH AMOSSwissAS, was also able to confirm in early December 2013 the latest additionto its loyal customer base: UTair Aviation Group. We are impressed by thehighly efficient evaluation process of UTair, which took only a few monthsthough it included a tender process, an onsite presentation and an exchangeof information between members of the AMOS community, said RonaldSchaeuffele, CEO of Swiss-AS.

For UTair it was of paramount importance to find a proven, best-of-breedto modernize and harmonize their MRO software environment. Initially, UTairwill implement AMOS for approximately a quarter of its fixed-wing fleet whilemore aircraft are to follow soon after the go-live. With the first class MROsoftware from Swiss-AS we intend to significantly improve UTairs capabilitiesin fleet management and MRO efficiency. This is especially important in viewof deliveries of more than 80 new fixed wing aircraft expected in 2014-2018,stated Oleg Loutsenko, UTair Technical Director.

A new multi-entity feature allows corporate organizations to processtransactions between different corporate entities within a single AMOSenvironment. This feature convinced UTair to also offer AMOS implementationto other members of the UTair Group, including UTair-Cargo, UTair Express,UTair Ukraine, Vostok Airlines and Tulpar Air among others. Swiss-AS and AMOSare in great demand in Russia and are delighted to gain even further ground inthis market with the UTair signature.

TRANSAERO LIVE WITH AMOSSwissAS was pleased to congratulate Transaero on the successful mid-December 2013 go-live with AMOS. The Russian carrier is now using AMOS10.20 live in production.

ROYAL AIR MAROC TAKES OFF WITH AMOSALSO in mid-December2013, Swiss-AS and Royal AirMaroc (RAM) announced theiragreements to implementAMOS at the Moroccan flagcarrier. By launching anRFP process, followed byonsite software presentations in Casablanca, RAM was looking for an MROsoftware package capable of supporting the companys restructuring strategy.Increasing personnel productivity and process optimization in the E&M sectorare the main objectives. The implementation of state-of-the-art MRO softwarewill ultimately result in reduced aircraft operating costs. Being a full-fledgedand highly integrated software that is suitable to fulfil the activities of technicaldepartments, AMOS was RAMs preferred choice M&E software system. The go-live should take place approximately ten to twelve months after

commencement. During that time 100 back-office users and more than 200technical staff will be familiarized with AMOS and trained to use the MROsoftware in the context of the then newly-introduced maintenance processes. Aconsiderable number of Swiss-AS employees are fluent in French and this will bea considerable advantage during the project as well as in the post-go-live phase.

It is a pleasure to welcome RAM, our first customer from North Africa, intothe AMOS community. With the delivery of the B787 fleet, RAM will benefitfrom AMOS advanced functions, which address the specific needs of newgeneration aircraft. said Ronald Schaeuffele, CEO of Swiss-AS.
