Rosenberger III, Lecturer in Marketing, from the Newcastle Business School, University of Newcastle (Australia), Mr Jin Ho Yun from Sung Kyun Kwan University (Republic of Korea), Mr Mauro de Oliveira from the University Center of FEI (Brazil) and Dr Mohammad Rahman from the School of Management, Shandong University (P.R. China). Why is the research being done?   The purpose of this study is to enhance our understanding of the complex mix of factors that influence fan loyalty of German, Australian, Korean, Brazilian and Chinese professional football teams. From a practitioner’s perspective, the improved understanding of the drivers of professional football fan loyalty should lead to improved prescriptions for practitioners in developing programs designed to lift fan loyalty, including match attendance. Who can participate in the research?   We are conducting two phases for this research. Phase 1 participants have to be at least 18 years of age, currently studying at the Technischen Universität Dortmund, University of Newcastle, Sung Kyun Kwan University, University Center of FEI or Shandong University and be football fans. Phase 2 participants have to be at least 18 years of age and be a member fan of a German, Australian, Korean, Brazilian or Chinese professional football club. This survey is part of Phase 1. What choice do you have?   Participation in this research is entirely your choice. Whether or not you decide to participate, your decision will not disadvantage you. If you do decide to participate, you may withdraw from the project at any time without giving a reason and have the option of withdrawing any data that identifies you. What would you be asked to do?   If you agree to participate, you will be asked to complete a survey and typically rate each item on a Likert- style scale of 1-7, where 1 represents “strongly disagree” and 7 “strongly agree”. The survey wi ll require respondents to complete questions in relation to the areas of interest for this study. These include: (1) Motivations for sport consumption (2) Attendance constraints (3) Fanship

How m uch t ime wi l l i t take?  The survey will take approximately 5-7 minutes to complete, however, you are encouraged to take your

time and complete the survey at your convenience.

What are the r isks and b enef its of par t ic ipating ? No harm or risks of harm are anticipated for potential participants in this study, since the study seeks toascertain attitudes, perceptions and opinions from respondents. The findings of this study are expected toincrease our understanding of the drivers of fan loyalty of professional football teams in Germany, Australia,the Republic of Korea, Brazil and China.

How w i l l your pr ivacy be protected?   All information collected will be treated strictly confidential and you may withdraw at any time. No individual

identifiable information will be collected other than basic demographic information. The data will be stored ina restricted database accessible only by the project researchers. Usage of systematic codes designedspecifically for the study by the researcher will be applied to categorise collected data.  All responses will bestored securely, and once the information has been analysed, all data will be securely stored and retained atthe University of Newcastle and for a minimum of five (5) years in accordance with its University policy andat Sung Kyun Kwan University, University Center of FEI, Shandong University and Technischen UniversitätDortmund in accordance with their policies.

How w i l l the informat ion col lected be used?  The information collected will be used to publish in scientific marketing journals and marketing practitioner

publications. Individual participants will not be identified in any reports/publications arising from the project. At the conclusion of this research project, the researchers will make a summary of the results and findingsavailable to all participants and interested parties.
